Introduction to Road Safety

Summary:

This two day course is provided by the NSW Centre for Road Safety. It will explain the Centre’s Safe System Partnership approach to road safety, and describe the Centre’s goal to drive research, policy and behavioural change to significantly improve the NSW road toll.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the program is to blend the delivery of expert knowledge in road safety with practical problem solving activities, and the identification of essential road safety resources and people.

CONTENT

The content covered in the program will:

·  Introduce you to the NSW Centre for Road Safety. It will explain the four pillars of the CRS – Safer People, Safer Roads, Safer Vehicles and Technology.

·  Provide resources to support your work in road safety.

·  Provide crash statistics for the development of road safety programs.

·  Debunk myths in road safety.

·  Have stimulating presentations from leaders in road safety.

·  Broaden knowledge of areas such as pedestrians, restraints, fatigue, speed, drink/drug driving and countermeasures, as well as vehicle standards, safer roads, and crash investigation

·  It also aims to broaden participants understanding of how to analyse crash data

COSTS:

Costs associated with the delivery of the Induction Program including morning and afternoon teas, lunch and program materials will be met by the NSW Centre for Road Safety.

Costs associated with travel, parking, overnight accommodation and other meals are to be met by the participants through their own budgets. Please note that participants are responsible for making their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.
