DESIGNATION:Head of Construction, Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing
REPORTING TO: Assistant Principal
RESPONSIBLE FOR:Leadership and operational management of identified Curriculum areas, ensuring that the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding and that learners succeed and progress.
GRADE: M39-41
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the operational management and leadership of learner recruitment, the total learner experience, successful achievement of outcomes and progression of learners.
- To lead, manage and develop the CTLs and the curriculum delivery team and learners within your designated area.
- To promote and develop excellence in teaching, learning and assessments through high performing teams.
- To promote a culture of quality improvement embedding quality assurance systems consistent with college quality standards.
- To lead and manage the development of the curriculum and its resources to ensure it keeps abreast of industry needs and requirements.
- To work collaboratively with the college business service areas to provide a high quality learner experience.
- To set and monitor targetsfor learner and course success measures to ensure that strategic targets are met leading to continuous improvement.
This post carries a teaching commitment which is negotiable based on volume of learners, income and complexity of provision.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership& Management:
- Actively contribute to, implement and monitor achievement towards the college’s strategic deliverables and in particular the ambition to become an outstanding provider across all areas.
- To plan, lead and have curriculum development responsibility for the curriculum areas, ensuring all are fully resourced. This needs to take into account trends, LMI and employer engagement.
- To ensure effective planning, monitoring and implementation of English & maths through discrete and vocational delivery, promoting mastery of skills.
- To be proactive in managing curriculum change in order to meet local needs, fostering a positive relationship across the Borough and within the immediate local community.
- To take responsibility for the overall curriculum management of the team, leading the development of people and teams to maximise success and their potential.
- To systematically review monitor and develop the learner journey to ensure high quality and the delivery of an outstanding learner experience for all learners.
- To promote high quality teaching, learning and assessment, and innovation to raise performance leading to outstanding outcomes.
- To effectively implement and monitor the impact of quality assurance systems to drive quality improvement towards outstanding.
- To ensure student support is personalised to the needs of learners to ensure achievement of their potential.
- To lead on effective CEIAG practices within the team, working closely with the Marketing and recruitment team, ensuring that students are appropriately placed and progressed to their intended destinations.
- To implement and monitor effective one to one and tutorial programme to effectively monitor the progress of all students to ensure timely achievement.
- To represent the College with external partners, agencies and employers
Resource Management:
- To implement effective communication strategies which ensures consistency of practice, achievement of targets and in-line with college values and behaviours.
- To fully engage with and optimise the use of college systems to track, monitor performance leading to timely intervention.
- To identify and address areas of underperformance, engaging with the college support systems and the college performance management framework.
- To plan, lead and manage the effective deployment of the resource requirements for the curriculum areas within the area of responsibly, including financial human and physical resources.
- To carry out staff time tabling and local budget management within and for curriculum teams, with particular reference to the operational management of physical and human resources.
- Ensure the college has a diverse and flexible approach to remain profitable, identifying innovative ways to utilise assets in the pursuit of growth allied to high quality provision and achieve efficiencies, through an entrepreneurial approach.
General
- To promote and put in to practice College policies, particularly those relating to equality and diversity.

- Significant leadership/management experience at in the education sector with knowledge of the complex FE environment within which the College works (E)

- Have a successful record of managing budgets relating to staffing and teaching resources (D)
