PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Bill Godman (Relieving Principal)

Welcome to the 2011 school year and what a busy and productive start it has been. The school year has commenced at seemingly a whirlwind pace for myself starting at a wonderful school for the first time. I would like to thank the staff, students and parents, that I have met, for their very warm welcome. I would particularly like to thank outgoing Principal,Mrs Kerry Barker, for her preparations in making the handover to a new principal as seamless as possible. Mrs Barker has left a great legacy ensuring that the school is running very smoothly. Mrs Barker’s leadership has ensured that Cootamundra Public School will continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for students and families for a long time to come and that the school will continue to enjoy prominence in the community of Cootamundra.

Mrs Barker has been appointed as Principal of Sturt Public School WaggaWagga through the Department of Education and Training merit selection process. Congratulations Mrs Barker.

The Federal Government’s Building Education Revolution (BER) project for Cootamundra Public School is just about complete. The project was handed over on Wednesday afternoon with a few finishing touches remaining. This includes the completion of the front entrance. What a transformation! Our new modular classroom that Year 6 is enjoying is a wonderful teaching and learning facility. Students can now safely play under our large playground COLA sheltered from the weather. Staff have a modern relaxing, well appointed staffroom and the entrance to the school and front office area provides a welcoming reception to parents and visitors to our school.

As well we have a much improved office workspace for our hard working support staff.

We have a private interview room and a work preparation area for staff.

I’d like to commend the patience of the staff, students and parents during the construction phase. At times the disruption and interruption to normal routines would have been bothersome and inconvenient but the end result has been very, very worthwhile.

Many staff worked tirelessly during the vacation period to ensure that the new reception area and classes were ready for our students on day one. I would like to thank them for their dedication and commitment to our school and your children.

I would like to welcome to Cootamundra Public School Miss Letitia O’Callaghan as our new Assistant Principal following her successful application through the merit selection process. Mrs Tracey Moon and MrsNerida McDonald have also joined our teaching staff.

Class formations for 2011:

KL – Mrs Sharron Large, K/1B – Mrs Eleanor Bondaruk, 1B - Maureen Bunworth, 1/2M – Mrs Gael Millar, 2M – Ms Tracey Moon, 3/4G – Ms Laura Granger, 4R – MrsAnnise Robinson, 5H – Mr Andrew Hinde, 5/6O – Ms Letitia O’Callaghan, 6J –Mr Graeme Johnson and Language Support Class – Mrs Denise Clune.

A full staff list will be included in our next newsletter along with the calendar for Term 1

Kindergarten students settled into school very readily on their first day of ‘BigSchool’ yesterday and demonstrated that they were more than ready to commence their school career. Having a friendly and recognisable senior school buddy certainly helped! We hope that our Kindergarten students will continue to wear their name badges for some time to come so that we get to know them quickly.
