Codes for Record Creators

Each record creator must be assigned a unique code consisting of your institution code plus a sequential number. This identifier is to be included in each survey that the record creator completes.

For example: Cataloger 1 at NLM = DNLM1

Cataloger 2 at NLM = DNLM2

Technician 1 at NLM = DNLM3

Codes for Identifying Records

Depending on the environment in which your institution performs its cataloging, it may be necessary to include a field in some or all of your bib and/or authority records with code indicating your institution and a record identifier to facilitate LC’s collection of all of the test records. As described in the RDA Test Record Collection Plan LC will be contacting each institution to ask a series of questions regarding their participation in the test. Based upon the answers given, LC will establish an individualized method for collecting all of your institution’s test records.
