SUBJECT: Accomplish a New Year’s Resolution in 10 Minutes
Dear Fellow Federal Employees,
Happy New Year! Welcome back. I trust you all had a peaceful and happy holiday season.
We are now heading into the final weeks of the 2017 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). The official last day to pledge is Jan. 12. What a perfect time to make and then accomplish a New Year’s resolution: help those in need. How often can you accomplish a resolution in the month of January—and in only ten minutes?
As we close out this campaign, I’d like to share one last story of fellow Federal employee Jeffery Donahoe (pictured) from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Jeffery chooses to support causes that assist veterans through outdoor and recreational therapy, because of a family member who is a Vietnam-era Army combat veteran.“For decades, he kept his memories of his experiences to himself,” Jeffery said. “Those that knew him before his military service said he came home from Vietnam a changed young man. For years following his service, he was quiet, reserved, tense, and withdrawn. It was when he and his wife took up recreational boating and fishing that a restorative healing occurred.”
There’s still time to give through the CFC and make a difference in someone’s life. For example, just $18 per paycheck enables you to feed a struggling military family for an entire week! Whatever your cause, consider making a contribution to this year’s campaign and Show Some Love to the many people supported by thousands of participating charities. And remember, you can also pledge volunteer time in addition to money to any of your favorite CFC causes.
Giving through the CFC is easy, efficient and effective, and donations are tax deductible. Make your pledge of time or money today by visiting [opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC].
Thank you,
[Department/Agency Head]
