Q & A
Dr CE thanked Dr RD for preparing the presentation at a short notice.
Dr CE:
-Statistically in under 25s there is a low incidence of cervical cancer but few girls aged 15 have been diagnosed with cervical cancer in GB. If young girls have persistent bleeding they should be invited for smear test.
-Those that have had hysterectomy for other reasons than abnormal smear may still be invited for smear test (done from top of vagina)
-If HPV virus not present, cervical cancer can’t develop
-in future urine test may suffice for cervical cancer abnormality testing. It hasn’t been introduced yet.
- Matters arising
-AD – We have notice an improvement in telephone calls in the last 2 months: on many occasions the phone are silent, we haven’t had complaints from patients recently about not being able to get through on the phone
-Q: Are you open all day now?
Dr CE: Technically yes. Reception is open throughout the day with a break for lunch (12.30-2pm), doctors’ appointments run 9am-12.30pm and 4-6pm
We may try to stagger clinics as 3 Registrars start in August and we may be short of rooms.
-Q: Do you get any DNAs (did not attend)?
De CE: Yes, often those who book on the day do not turn up. We write to them.
-AD: Doctor on call- please note that dr on call will call patients who requested to speak to them once only so please keep your phone close by at all times. If you can’t please, give us a window when to call.
-Q: How close is it now to NHS being privatised?
Dr CE: It is gradually coming, but we don’t know when it will happen. It is a hot political topic.
-Dr CE: Please note that we have to inform all patients about their named GP. When patients come to the practice they will be informed. Please be aware that the freedom to see any doctor still remains.
-AD: Reminder about Friends and Family Test. It has been going on since Dec 2014, please fill in the form when in the practice, on our website or on the phone after your appointment.
-AD: Patient Access reminder- Online booking available up to 4 weeks in advance. Those who have access to computers please, collect letter from reception and register online for booking appointments over internet.
- Date and time of next meeting: 1st December 2015
- Topic: Dementia
