1The Cemetery is open to the public from 0800 until sunset Monday to Saturday and from 1000 until sunset on Sundays. Children under ten years of age are not admitted except in the care of a responsible person. With the exception of guide dogs, dogs are not admitted under any circumstances.

2All fees for interments and for the purchase of graves must be paid when the order is given. All fees for the right to fix memorial plaques, vases or kerbslips on graves must be paid prior to fixing.

3The Registrar’s Death’s Certificate of Disposal or the Coroner’s Order must be produced and the name of the parish and district from which the body is to be removed and all other information required must be given on the prescribed form at the office of the Clerk, The Ark, 33 Kirkgate, TADCASTER, North Yorkshire, LS24 9AQ

4Hours of interment- Weekdays, Monday to Friday, from 1000 to 1600 in winter and from 1000 to 1700 in summer. Weekend interments by special arrangements.

5The time fixed for a funeral is the time when the cortege will arrive at the cemetery gate.

6The expense and responsibility for fixing and renovation of memorial plaques, vases and kerbslips shall be borne by the person named on the Grant of Right Certificate.

Every purchased grave and all memorial plaques, vases and kerbslips (where existing) must be kept in order and repair by the owner. The Town Council will not be responsible for the condition or upkeep of memorial plaques, vases and kerbslips (where existing).

Fixing of memorial plaques, vases and kerbslips must be within the confines of the grave space which measures 600mm by 900mm. Kerbslips shall be constructed in naturally occurring stone or similar material giving comparable appearance and durability.

If the kerbslips are not kept in good order, the Town Council has the right to remove them. Six months notice would, however, need to be given to the owner of the grave space

7No ashes plot, in which the Exclusive Right of Burial has been purchased, shall be opened without the consent in writing of the owner for the time being or production of the Deed of Purchase.

8Memorial plaques bearing an inscription will be allowed to be placed on purchased graves only and all memorial plaques, vases and kerbslips must be securely fixed to the standards of the National Association of Memorial Masons.

9Drawings of every memorial plaque, vase and kerbslips and a copy of the inscription then or subsequently intended to be engraved thereon, must be submitted to the Council for approval, and no memorial plaque, vase or kerbslips will be allowed to be erected or inscription engraved thereon without such approval. The number of the grave corresponding with the interment book must also be engraved on the memorial plaque.

10The Town Council reserves the right of selection of grave spaces.

11The following are not permitted: -

Monuments; Headstones ;Palisades; Wooden Crosses;

Flat stones/plaques exceeding 20 inches by 18 inches and with an elevation of over 4 inches; Kerbslips more that 4 inches in height.

12The Town Council does not accept liability in respect of Kerbslips.

13Only one vase, not exceeding a height of 8 inches shall be allowed on graves.

14The Town Council reserves the right to amend these Rules and Regulations at any time.
