JOB DESCRIPTION
Payroll Specialist
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs a wide variety of record keeping and payroll processing activities, including computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductionsand processing terminations.Ensures accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll, provides timely and accurate financial information, participates in daily data entry payroll processing. May compute employees' time worked. May compute and post wages and deductions or prepare paychecks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or one or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two to three years of ADP Workforce Now experience.
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
- Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
- Organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
LINE OF AUTHORITY: Reports to Controller
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enter newly hired employees into ADP, Access and other Databases as needed.
- Process correct calculations for garnishments, paid time off (PTO), insurance and 401(K) deductions.
- Pull electronic time records from electronic medical records system and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
- Contact various department supervisors for any missed or inaccurately reported times.
- Process bi-weekly transfer of payroll data to ADP.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Compile internal management reports from payroll system software; develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
- Ensure completion of verification of employment requests.
- Process terminations of employment and provide timely notification to HR of benefits and other related issues.
