LIBRARY ASSISTANT / GCSE STUDY CLUB SUPERVISOR

The Woodroffe School is a Foundation School. We are a mixed comprehensive for students from the age of 11 to 18. Following a recent OFSTED Inspection in September 2011 we retained our Outstanding status and also achieved a coveted Outstanding grade for Teaching and Learning. The National Performance Tables published by the Government recently confirmed our status as one of the best state schools in Dorset, with exam results way above national averages. Consequently all of our year groups are currently over-subscribed and we have a thriving Sixth Form.

As an Outstanding School we strive at all levels to maintain this standard. Due to the development of a new Sixth Form Library and Study area we are now seeking an individual to take over as Library Assistant in the Main School Library. We require someone who has strong interpersonal skills and is a confident communicator with staff and young people aged between 11 and 16.

The main responsibilities of this post are outline in the detailed Job Description and Person Specification that are available for this post. Hours of work will be 32 hours per week; 8.40am – 3.40pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 9.00am – 5.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays;with a one hour unpaid lunch break every day.

This post is term time only which equates to 39 weeks per annum ie 38 term weeks plus five staff training days. Holiday entitlement is 25 days per annum plus public and bank holidays pro rata, rising to 28 days per annum plus public and bank holidays pro rata after five year’s service. For term time only employees, leave takes the form of additional paid hours over and above the number of hours worked. The number of paid weeks for this post is therefore 44.65 per annum. All leave must be taken during school holiday periods, to suit the needs of the school

Under the Dorset LA Job Evaluation initiative the salary for this post has been agreed at Grade 3, with a pay range from 8 – 12 ie £13,189 to £15,039 per annum pro rata. Remuneration is pro rata, based on the number of hours/weeks worked eg for 32 hours per week across 44.65 pay weeks the starting salary would be £9,768 per annum. Salary is paid in twelve equal monthly installments. All support staff posts at the WoodroffeSchool are subject to a probationary period of six months.

The welfare and development of staff, both teaching and non-teaching, is a priority for the Governing Body. There is an annual performance management review process in place for all staff which commences on completion of a six month probationary period. The WoodroffeSchool operates a no smoking policy.
