Job Purpose

To develop, maintain and promote service readiness principles and processes for all current IT Projects across the different infrastructure technology and application stacks, ensuring all operational departments are engaged and receive the knowledge and training required to ensure the smooth transition of new or changed services from the development to the live environment.

To develop approaches to evaluate service capability/readiness and assess any risks to the live environment before the new or changed service is released or deployed. To work with all stakeholders to get buy in for any new processes, and to develop strategies for the implementation of new processes or associated ways of working across IT.

Main Duties

·  Run the Service Readiness Process on IT Support and IT Delivery Projects ensuring all actions are captured and dealt with, in order to ensure smooth transition of the project into the live environment.

·  Run project Go No Go meetings in order to ensure projects are indeed ready for live implementation.

·  Assist with supporting Releases into live. Documenting the results with a focus on what went well and what doesn’t. You will also manage a ‘Lessons Learned’ log and devise possible solutions/actions to improve how we currently operate.

·  Experience in running Warranty and Handover, and Knowledge Transfer assessment processes on new and existing applications and infrastructure/application components, in order that they are fully supportable. Upon completion of this an action plan should be created to address ad training issues and skill shortages.

·  Run the Early Engagement Process on all assigned projects, ensuring buy in from the relevant Support Teams.

·  Experience in reporting on the status of Projects from an operational and service perspective

·  Experience in document approval and sign-offs on behalf of Support Teams.

·  Develop repeatable approaches to consider the technical readiness of new developments, which ensure that all technical aspects of the service have been considered, for example, DR, Security, Availability and Capacity Management.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Desirable:

·  Prince 2 or equivalent.

·  ITIL qualification.

Essential:

·  Able to manage and organise work autonomously and to manage conflicting and complex priorities.

·  Service Readiness experience with a proven track record of designing workable solutions in this area, and to think creatively in the design of these solutions.

·  Influencing, negotiating and communication skills with the ability to adjust own style to suit audience and achieve objectives, to facilitate communication with a wide variety of stakeholders from different backgrounds.

·  Can work positively to build commitment and momentum across a variety of individuals and groups.

·  Proven experience of working in a large IT Development environment with exposure to development and infrastructure technologies and concepts.

·  Experience of putting projects into the live environment.

·  Service rehearsals.

·  Excellent oral and written communications.

·  Experience of introducing change at a departmental level.
