TITLE: Manager In-Training

Manager In-Training personnel are responsible, reliable and dependable employees. They have shown exemplary leadership skills, have exceptional communication skills and a strong knowledge of the Direct Support Professionalstaff position.Their work hours may vary from day to day depending on assigned tasks. Some tasks may require office time others will take place in the ISL or in the community with the consumer and/or direct support professional staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in general or special education, Psychology, Sociology or a related human services field.
  • 3 months experience in a DSP position with BIS.
  • An employee that has been in good standing with the agency and employed for a minimum of 90 days
  • No major violations or disciplinary actions within the past 30 days
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook systems. Ability to utilize a fax machine, phone system and other office materials as necessary for the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Flexible availability
  • Has shown a knowledge of position, interest in advancing within the agency and possesses leadership skills and ability to be a positive role model to clients and staff.
  • Ability to respond quickly to phone calls, texts or emails regarding requests and expectations from supervisors.
  • Internet access to access online tools, systems, websites and emails in a timely manner (Computer, laptop or tablet is highly preferred, rather than solely on internet access through a Smart phone.)
  • Reliable and personal mode of transportation that is insured in the state of Missouri or Illinois.
  • Current on all required trainings/certifications (see DSPqualifications for list)
  • Med Aid 1 Certified

REPORTS TO:ISL Director, ISL Assistant Director, ISL Support Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILIITES:

Manager’s In- Training will continue to follow the job responsibilities of current DSPstaff, which include but are not limited to assisting in behavioral and personal care services to a specific learner that will enable him/her to reach his/her fullest potential and improve behavior, academic, social and functional skills, such as:

  • Assistance with any activity of daily living as outlined in the client’s Behavior Support Plan and Individual Support Plan.
  • Bathing, toileting, transfer and ambulation, grooming, exercise and extension of other forms of therapy
  • Participation in recreation and leisure activities, teaching functional communication, implementation of behavior plans, achieving increased independence, productivity, and inclusion in the community.

In addition,Managers In-Trainingshall be responsible for:

  • Maintaining the required hours of (38) direct support shifts and 2 hours of management training per week.
  • Reporting any issues or concerns regarding BSP or ISP implementation to the direct supervisor of that client.
  • Ability to administer medication and provide supervision during DSP first medication pass.
  • Assisting with staffing issues on an as needed basis in the event of an emergency situation in which a staffing issue exists in which no other staff are available to work.
  • Completing data on a daily basis, proper completion of time sheets,therapist checklists, or communication logs as outlined per client team.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to new support staff for any client living in the home
  • Assisting in keeping original copies of all data sheets and maintains sufficient copies when the staff data book is running low
  • Assist in filing old data sheets in office consumer files
  • Assist in the management of the staff data book as delegated. This includes making sure that all data are being completed by DSPin a thorough and timely manner, and kept in the appropriate places. (DPNs, current behavior data sheet, daily logs, MARS, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining appropriate ISL supplies in the home which includes but not limited to the following: groceries, first aid supplies, medications, cleaning supplies, financial ledgers, intake tracking logs, sleep logs, BM logs, household needs (light bulbs, batteries, misc. office supplies).
  • Sending the appropriate supervisor emails or voice messages with program updates, unusual incidents, and interesting observations from the previous week
  • Completing data on a daily basis, proper completion of time sheets, ISL In-Home Checklist,documentation or communication logs as outlined per client team.
  • Assist QDDPs, CISTs, and Home Supervisors as necessary for monthly reports; data gathering, graphing, and quality assurance, as necessary.
  • Function as a front line supervisor to any direct support professional staff. Duties may include but are not limited to providing written and/or verbal feedback to staff on a weekly basis as delegated and supervised by director supervisor
  • Complete Treatment Integrity forms when working with direct care staff and any other opportunity afforded
  • Attend monthly Support Coordinator meetingsas delegated by direct supervisors
  • Attend consumer doctor appointments and require proper documentation for these appointments, as well as assist in the follow through doctor appointment documentation procedures
  • Assist and conduct weekly book checks in ISL which include daily DPN’s, consumer funds, MARs , safety monitoring checklists and drills, reviewing daily summaries, checking timesheets and mileage logs are all completed correctly
  • Assist in the balancing of consumer ledgers including personal and chaperone funds, household and turning in receipts to ISL Financial Officer
  • Assist in maintaining the consumer 3 month financial binder for all consumer funds including: receipts, transaction ledgers, and staff count sheets
  • Complete Manager in training Monthly Checklist during duration of training and the immediate position
  • Maintain and submit weeklyManager Logs each Monday before 5pm to the CIST and ISL Director
  • Complete and update the system to ensure that timesheets and DPNs all match and is accurate for the previous week
  • Enter schedule for following week each Friday before 5pm
  • Attend all monthly ISL team meetings, monthly ISL Supervisor meetings, and any other meetings required by the CIST and ISL Director(s)
  • Assist in maintaining the consumer appointment/recreational calendar in the home
  • Requisite number of office hours (2) will be maintained weekly
  • Assisting in emergency staff coverage and rotating weekend coverage
  • Know, abide by, and enforce all BIS policies. Follow professional standards when dealing with employees. Be consistent when following policies.
  • Follow through with Time Off request procedures.
  • Prevent, report, and stop abuse & neglect of supported individual. Act as a mandated reporter for abuse/neglect – that is, report all incidents or suspected incidents of abuse and neglect to the appropriate persons.
  • All other duties as assigned.
