Section 1
- Open the document named Nature reportand save as Nature report-yourname.
- There is information missing about frogs – open the document named Frog data.
Copy the information from this document and paste it into the report under the heading: What exactly is a frog? - The formatting of the list of frog characteristics doesn’t match the same section about toads. Format the list to match the characteristics of toads list by moving the tab stop to 2cm on the ruler.
- Insert the image Frog into the report, just before the last paragraph on frogs.
- The image is too large. Resize the picture so that is has a width of 4.45 cm.
- The document would look much better if the text for the last paragraph about frogs was wrapped around the frog picture instead of sitting beneath it. Change the text wrapping for the picture so that it can sit beside the text (same as the toad picture).
- To clean up the rest of the document, scroll down to the life cycle of frogs and toads (near the top of page 2). The life cycle elements are presented in a list with a left tab stop of 5cm. Remove the left tab and remove the tab paragraph marks (Hint: you will need to use the show/hide button)so that the list is fully aligned to the left of the margin. Apply numbering to this list instead as it is more appropriate.
- The image of a tadpole on page is not required – but we won’t delete it just in case it is needed later for later on. Cut the picture of the tadpole out of the Nature report and paste into the Frog data document for safekeeping (perhaps at the end of the document). Save and close the document Frog data.
- Go back to the nature report. Remove the clip art image of the frog at the very top of the document as it’s not in keeping with the rest of the document. Ensure that there are no paragraph mark entries before the main title: Frogs and Toads.
- Save the document keeping the same filename and close.
Section 2
- Open the document named After school activities and rename this file saving it as Activities-yourname.
- The chart on page 1 is located in the incorrect position. Move the chart so that it appears after the sentence ‘Here are the results…’under the paragraph heading Cinema. Check that you have a clear line-space before and after the chart (Hint: turn on the Show/Hide command).
- The chart is too large. Resize the chart so it is slightly smaller and fits within the margins of the text.
- Go to the Venues section. Another chart needs to be inserted in this section. Open the Excel file called Class survey and copy the chart called Popular nightsout on Sheet 1.
- Switch back to your Word document and paste the chart just under the text ‘This is what they like to do best.’
Paste it as an Excel Chart so that it can be formatted later on. You can do this by clicking on the first option of the paste smart tag. - This chart needs to be amended so that it matches the rest of the document. Format the title of the chart to Tahoma 14pt and ensure it is not bold.
- Change the colour of the data series Clubs to orange so that it matches the colour scheme of the other pie chart inserted above.
- Finally resize the chart so that it’s the same size as the chart in the Cinema section.
- Now it’s time to work on the exercise section of the article. Open the text file called Benefits of exercise.
- Select the text in this document and paste it into the Exercise section of the article, leaving a blank line after the first line which ends with …prefer organised sports.
Use the smart tag to format this text so that it fits in with the rest of the document. - Find the text …executive director of Boxton Sports in the text you have just inserted and add the registered symbol after the word Sports. Format this symbol to be superscript.
- The chart titled Sports activities is out of date. Delete this chart. We will use a more up to date list which is from an Excel file.
- Insert the Excel file School Activities as an object. Ensure that there is a clear line-space above and below the object.
- Open Microsoft PowerPoint and open the presentation called School Exercise Club. Select the second slide in the Slides pane at the side of the PowerPoint window, and copy it.
- Switch back to your article and paste the slide just below the text …keep up the good workat the end of the document. Resize the object so that it has a width of 8 cm.
- Remove the page break from the document as it is no longer in a suitable position. Your document should now be two pages. Save and close the document keeping the same filename. Close any other open documents in other programmes.
Section 3
- Open the file named shapesand save in your area as shapes-yourname.
- The image of the house is incomplete. It requires a roof. Draw a triangle and place this on top of the house to form the roof. Fill the colour of the shape with yellow with a red outline.
The green window is too large. Resize the window so that it is in proportion to the rest of the house. - Draw a normal arrow from Group A to the green circle. Format the colour of the arrow to red.
- Draw a block arrow from Group B to the purple circle.
- Both circles have very dark shading and it’s not easy to read the text inside. Change the fill colour of each circle so that they are lighter shades of the same colour.
- Save and close your work.
- You have now completed this task. Please email the following files to Mersedes Farjad at for marking:
