JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Support Worker
LINE MANAGER:Home Support Services Manager
Job Purpose:To provide personal care to clients in their own homes in line with the agreed policies and procedure of Age UK Doncaster and in a manner which at all times promotes the dignity and independence of clients.
Duties:
The following lists of duties serves to indicate the range of tasks expected
1Personal Care Tasks
(a)Helping clients to get up/go to bed
(b)Helping clients to dress/undress or change clothes
(c)Helping clients with washing, bathing or showering
(d)Helping clients with toileting including the emptying of commodes
(e)Helping clients with oral hygiene
(f)Helping clients with washing and brushing their hair
(g)Helping clients to shave
(h)Supervising a client taking their medication
2Domestic Tasks
(a)Preparing and cooking meals
(b)Making drinks
(c)Washing up
(d)Preparing and lighting fires
(e)Making/changing beds
(f)Taking washing to the launderette
(g)Washing clothes in the client’s home
(h)Washing soiled linen
(i)Shopping
3Social Care Tasks:
(a)Assisting clients to make phone calls
(b)Reading to/for clients
(c)Letter writing
(d)Maintaining/developing social contacts
(e)Teaching/encouraging the basic skills of daily living
(f)Teaching/encouraging social skills
(g)Sitting with clients
(h) Escorting client to appointments
4Other Tasks
(a)Paying rent, bills etc.
(b)Collecting pension
(c)Collecting prescriptions
(d)Monitoring clients’ well being
5Any other reasonable duties that may be required in line with the job purpose.
Hours of work:Subject to agreement. The serviceoperates
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Rate of pay:£7.20 per hour
plus travelling timeand enhancement for weekend working
Annual leave entitlement:5.6 weeks per annum
