- Concerns expressed regarding lighting in the parking lot
- When the residence opens, the students will be coming in later at night and will require more lighting
- Brian will review
1.3 / Convocation – Communication Plan – Kim / Frank
- Conversations need to begin regarding convocation
- Student Affairs to get involved
- Development plan with Thunder Bay
- Date: June 4, 2011
- Venue to be confirmed – Twin Pad or Opera House
- Waiting for answer from The City of Orillia to see if they can accommodate
- Graduates – pprox.. 400 students
- Audience – Twin Pad seats 700
- If Opera House chosen, 2 convocations will be required
- Frank will follow up with The City of Orillia and advise by next meeting
1.4 / Library Orientation Event – Chris / Info
- January 17th – 21st, 2011
- Posters posted to promote the library to the students
- Prizes and raffles part of the promotion

- Discussions to take place regarding plans around the renovations
- Brian and Kim will work on this
- Will library services be available?
- Business students will still require resources

- February 12th – 17th, 2011
- University profiles research and demonstrations
- Live in Thunder Bay
- Orillia Campus to have teleconferences for the opening ceremonies and presentations
- Orillia Campus will have a research day
- Alice, Susan, Jo-Anne and Elizabeth to discuss and come up with ideas
- Faculty book launch with Manicore Books - Heritage Place involvement

- February 11, 2011
- Development and Advancement (now known as External Relations) looking after arranging for speakers
- Hoping for 200 people – large lecture theatre
1.8 / Student Card Security– LUSU / Leigh
- Jack Green from The City of Orillia advised that a Lakehead student has been selling her bus pass on Kijiji – This is fraud.
- LUSU in Thunder Bay is aware
- Leigh has tried to contact the student and will follow-up with The City of Orillia to see if they want to be involved
- It was suggested to put a non-transferable disclaimer on these passes
1.9 / Graduation Photographs and School Rings– LUSU / Info
- LUSU is coordinating. To be held January 31st – February 14th, 2011
- They would like to use the same photographer as previous – Farzin Photography
- LUSU would also like to arrange class & cohort photos
- Problem with the Social Work students – not coming back now. Leigh will coordinate with Susan to set this up in August this year.
- Farzin Photography could also do the convocation photography – year to year contract and possibly club and team photos
- Students can order rings themselves through the book store
- LUSU will advise students of this information

- January 25, 26 and 28th, 2011

1.11 / Semi-Formal– LUSU / Info
- February 12, 2011 & Hawk Ridge
- Tickets to be sold at the HUB and the campus
- 256 tickets to be sold
1.12 / Endowment – LUSU / Info
- LUSU purchasing Endowment Bursary for Orillia Campus
1.13 / Laptop and Working Stations - LUSU / Mike
- LUSU brought forward proposal to committee for purchasing laptops and working stations
- Next meeting is first part of February, 2011
- If approved, Mike to coordinate with Chris and Tim for compatible equipment
1.14 / Social Work Placements – Susan / Info
- All students were placed January 4th, 2011 with the exception of two students. 1- aboriginal placement and 1 – India placement
- Susan should know in a couple of days regarding the aboriginal placement and it is looking positive for the placement in India, but not sure of time frame
- Susan checked with the OPP regarding police background checks and they are not required

- Chris and Brian to decide what to do
1.16 / Advancement – Request for Proposal - Jacquie / Info
- RFP complete for donor recognition wall/named rooms
- Closing February 25th, 2011
1.17 / BOSS Article - Kathy / Info
- Kathy reported that the BOSS article was successful in getting the word out
- Kathy is aware of one student who was approached to work and one student who has transferred to Lakehead University
1.18 / Marketing Communication – Frank / Info
- Frank commented that the posters, etc. are spectacular and has received a number comments from the students
1.19 / Aboriginal Initiatives – Frank / Info
- Aboriginal Elders’ Traditional Teaching Series – details will follow by the end of this week
1.20 / Accessibility - Frank / Info
- Learning support posting will be out mid next week
1.21 / Chaplain - Frank / Info
- Chaplain will be available next Friday in the Wellness Centre
- Will start the following Friday to see students
