KRHS Band Boosters General Meeting

February 2, 2017, 7:00 pm

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Kathy Fine.

Members Present: Elisabeth Deavers, Kathy Fine, Marti Cameron, Mindi O’Connor, Jacquelin Pinilla, Robin Byus, Diane Searles, Jennifer Schumacher, Melissa Odom

Secretary’s Report: December minutes are approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Marti Cameron reviewed the report for the month of January in detail. She will zero out the VMEA line.

Mrs. Deavers will speak to Mr. Warner about covering the cost of her hotel room for USC as he's done in the past. She will also confirm if he will pay for the VMEA Conference Registration as he has also done in the past. Boosters will cover food & partial hotel costs for Mrs. Deavers, as she will have her own room - not share room with other Band Directors. The Homestead rooms will open up on Monday. Mrs. Deavers will make reservation for next year to secure a room for next year VMEA.

Nicholas O’Connor gave a presentation on his projected Eagle Scout Project. He wants to build Rolling Drum Carts. This will allow bass drums to be stored and moved more efficiently and easily. He would like some Financial support from the Boosters. He will also do additional fundraising to offset the costs. He is asking for Boosters to approve up to $400. He will then reimburse Boosters as the fundraising monies come in. He wants to begin the project as soon as he receives his approval from the Eagle Scout Committee & Boosters. At that point he can accept funds & begin the project -which should take approximately 5 days to complete. He has an appointment with Mr. Warner to request approval to use the wood shop here at KRHS. Nick will present the idea to the band and will craft an email to request donations and volunteers to build it.

Swing Dance -
Probably will have 1 cash box. Pay entrance fee & pay for food ticket there also. That’s easier & more efficient for everyone. Raffle table will be separate. Boosters hope to increase KRHS student body participation. Hope to have a ‘spirit day’

with kids in sock hop clothes the day before the Swing Dance. Music Theory class to possible make a video for announcements. Reach out to Theatre kids & choir kids especially.

Golf Tournament - meeting Wed 2/8/17 7:30pm @ home of Rich & Diane Searles.

President’s Report - see notes for Executive Board openings. What positions will be opening?

Tri-County Band was a great event. Kids enjoyed it. Event will be same time frame for next year.

District Band leaves at 7:30am tomorrow morning. Auburn & KRHS will share a bus to the District Band.

Pre Assessment concert will be short - 3 songs for each (S/B & W/E). Mrs. Deavers is working on getting people to give feedback so they have an idea of what they need to work on.

Assessment is 3/4/17. S/B is performing at 9:30 in the morning & W/E is performing at 8:00pm. Mrs. Deavers will ride back & forth, but needs 4 Chaperones per bus.

Auditions All County Jazz are Monday 3/6/17 after school at Fauquier High School. All County Jazz is 3/31/17-4/1/17. @FHS.
Fine Arts Festival weekend of 3/24/17. Jazz Band will perform on the 24th.
End of Year Picnic will be 5/13/17.

Mrs. Deavers wants W/E kids to have a couple of after school rehearsals before Assessment. Also encourage your kids to practice at home. Parents support that idea & believe the kids will too. Everyone wants that Superior rating.
