Supports career development of junior faculty in public health who are pursuing community-based practice research intended to foster academic science and knowledge of public health systems, and collaborative partnerships between accredited schools or programs of public health and state and local departments of public health.

2) Methods of increasing awareness about racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare among general public and key stakeholders;
3) Researching ethical issues and other barriers to eliminate disparities in healthcare;
4) Developing methods for eliminating racial and ethnic disparities; and/or
5) Evaluating the effectiveness of intervention strategies.

Supports career development of talented junior faculty and researchers in study of health literacy, which is one of the strongest predictors of health and health outcomes. The use of clear health communication is an important component in addressing this issue, especially for patients who have low health literacy. Pfizer is committed to advancing research that addresses ways to improve low health literacy, including the use of clear health communication tools and interventions.
Suggested criteria for applications that:
1)Focus on one of the following public health topics: diet/exercise, smoking cessation, prevention, disease management, and adherence to treatment regimens;
2) Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches and knowledge;
3) Bridge the academic and practicing communities.
