01.POLICY STATEMENT

01.01TheStudentHealthCenterAdvisory CommitteewillservetoadvisetheDirectoroftheStudent HealthCenterandtheVicePresidentforStudentAffairsregardingtheoperationandservices oftheStudentHealthCenter.Thepurposeofthispolicystatementistoestablishtheproceduresforestablishingandoperatingthecommittee.

02.PROCEDURESOFTHESTUDENTHEALTHCENTERADVISORYCOMMITTEE

02.01ThepurposeoftheStudentHealthCenterAdvisoryCommitteeistoprovideimportantinputregardingtheoperationandservicesoftheStudentHealthCenter.Responsibilitiesofthecommitteeincludebutarenotlimitedto:reviewingtheStudentHealthCenterStrategicPlan,reviewingtheannualbudget,reviewingthestudenthealthinsuranceplanandreviewinganyrecommendedMedicalServiceFeeincreases.

02.02TheStudentHealthCenterAdvisoryCommitteewillmeetatleastonceeachfallandspringsemester.

02.03TheCommitteewillestablishitsownoperatingprocedures.

03.COMPOSITIONANDTERMSOFOFFICE

03.01MembersoftheCommitteewillbedeterminedbyOct31steachyear.Tenofthememberswillbestudents,twomemberswillbefromthe Student HealthCenter,onememberwill beastaffpersonandonewillbeafacultymember.

03.02TheCommitteeshallbecomposedofthefollowing:

  1. DirectoroftheStudentHealthCenter,Chair,permanentmember.
  1. AssociateDirector,StudentHealthCenter,Chair,permanentmember.
  1. Onestaff person.TheStudentHealthCenterwillrequestarepresentativefromaStudentAffairs Office.Thispersonwillserveatwo-yearterm.
  1. Onefacultyperson.TheStudentHealthCenterwillrequestarepresentativefromavarietyofdifferentacademicdepartments. Thispersonwillserveatwo-yearterm.
  1. TwoofthestudentswillbeStudentGovernmentRepresentatives. TheStudent GovernmentPresidentwillappointtworepresentativeseachyear.
  1. TheInternationalStudentOfficewillhelptheStudentHealthCentertoselectatleastoneinternationalstudentrepresentative eachyear.HavingrepresentationforinternationalstudentsisimportantduetothefactthatthiscommitteereviewsthestudenthealthinsuranceplanofferedatTexasStateandinternationalstudentsarerequiredtohavehealthinsurancecoverageasaconditionofenrollment.
  1. Theotherstudentpositionsareopentoanyinterestedstudents.Studentapplicationsaresolicitedeachyearandapplicantsareselectedafteraninterviewprocess.Applicantsareselectedbasedonavarietyoffactorsincluding:effectivecommunications skills,interestinhealthcare,abilitytoworkeffectivelyasateammember,abilitytoprovideanimportantperspective(e.g.,underrepresentedgroup)andtheirabilitytoattendallmeetingsfortheyear.
  1. Onceselected, student membersareallowedtoserveamaximumoftwoyearsaslongastheycontinueinschoolandareabletoattendallmeetings.
