A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE CLINTON CITY MANAGER SAM BENNETT ON BEING NAMED 2003 BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR BY THE CLINTON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were pleased to learn that Sam Bennett was named 2003 Business Person of the Year by the Clinton Economic Development Corporation; and

Whereas, Sam Bennett began serving as City Manager in 2001 and is the second recipient of the award bestowed by the city’s nonprofit economic development group; and

Whereas, playing an integral role in the deal that brought Sterilite Corporation to Laurens County, Mr. Bennett has also been involved with the Clinton Economic Development Corporation and the Laurens County Economic Development Corporation; and

Whereas, the wholehearted support that Mr. Bennett gave the city’s 007 Strategic Plan, the reorganization of the Main Street program in Clinton, and his efforts to advance the corporate park project were a large part of his receiving the prestigious award; and

Whereas, with a strong sense of enthusiasm for almost any project he undertakes, Mr. Bennett’s charisma and energy create passion within those who work around him, and his ability to lead others has made him a prominent figure in the business community; and

Whereas, several projects that Mr. Bennett spearheaded include the development of the city’s corporate/industrial park near the intersection of Highway 72 and Interstate 26, progress in citywide planning efforts, and of course, the landing of Sterilite’s $60 million/600 jobs investment; and

Whereas, without the efforts and leadership of Mr. Bennett, Laurens County and the Town of Clinton would not be on the path of success that they are on today, and his dedication and energy have brought prosperity to his community as well as the Palmetto State, and there is no doubt it will continue under his leadership. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Clinton City Manager Sam Bennett on being named 2003 Business Person of the Year by the Clinton Economic Development Corporation and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sam Bennett of Clinton.
