Learners find out about the local Labour Market in Brighton and Hove through interviews with a range of employers
Learning Objectives ~ by the end of the session learners will be able to:
- Name the main occupational and labour market sectors in Brighton and Hove
- Identify some key local employers in each sector and what their requirements are
- Explain how employer and labour market information can help them with their future plans

Display poster/leaflets around room and set up IWB with the link above. Have other resources needed to hand.
Introduction
Teacher introduces topic and explains the aim and learning objectives of the lesson
– using a fantastic local resource ‘BEACH’ which has been designed by young people for young people in local schools, we are going to discover the local labour market in Brighton and Hove and find out from real local employers what the local skills demands are. ThenLearners will do some activities which will increase your understanding of how to make use of this information in order to progress your career plans in the future.

So what do we mean by local Labour Market?
(the local economy, what jobs there are, type of work and organisations exist, what skills and education are needed, what the salaries are, numbers of people employed in each area etc)

Groups feedback/present to rest of class their findings about different sectors in the Brighton and Hove labour market. Learners find out about sectors other than the one they have looked at.
Completed Sector Sheets/presentations/moodboards can be put onto a central wall display depicting the B & H Labour Market.
