Authors: I designed this checklist to assist you in submitting your original research manuscriptto the International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education using the bepressScholarworks website at Bowling Green State University. Donot submit it with your files. It is for your personal use in manuscript preparationprior to submission.

  • Have you word-processed electronic files (MS Word .doc, .docx, or .rtf) for -
  • main documentincluding an abstract(and keywords), complete text,tables and figures in the proper place in the text, & references) with continuous line numbers?
  • Have you inserted each table with table caption in the appropriate location in the main document?
  • Have you created each figure and photograph as a .jpg or .tif file and inserted it in its appropriate location in the main document with a separate caption (not part of figure)?
  • Have you created a supplementalfile for eachdigital video or other streaming media?
  • Have you used the American Psychological Association (APA) (refer to Publication Manual, 6th ed.or to organize your manuscript, citations, and references?
  • Have you omitted all author names and identifying information from the acknowledgements and author notes?
  • Have you included the150 worddouble-spaced abstracton its ownpage in the main document as well as uploading it separately in the designated textbox during the submission process?
  • Have you used2-6appropriate IJAREkeywordsat the end of the abstract page? (see separate suggested keyword list)
  • Have your provided an intro./background section to clearly indicate need for study?
  • Have you clearly stated your research question and hypotheses to be tested?
  • Have you described informed consent procedures for participants in the Method section?
  • For all measures and test instruments, have you reported the appropriate validity, reliability, and rater objectivity?
  • For statistical analyses, have you provided the Type I error level against which the hypotheses have been tested (Note: α 0.05 is traditional, but not mandatory) and reported a prioristatistical powerconfidence intervals (e.g., sufficient sample & effect size to detect significant differences)?
  • Are each of your hypotheses tested clearly with statistical analyses in Results?
  • Do you fully elaborate and interpret all of your hypotheses during the Discussion?
  • Does each Conclusion make clear and logical sense and is parallel to your hypothesis?
  • Are all citations included in your Reference list in alphabetic order, in APA format, and cited using APA format within the main document?
  • Have you run spell- and grammar-checks plus proofread your document several times to be certain that you have eliminated misspellings and typographic errors?
  • Has a naïve, intelligent,native English writer read the manuscript and provided feedback on its level of readability and lack of technical jargon (defined in context)?

If you cannot answer “Yes” to all of these questions, your original research manuscript may not be ready to be submitted for peer review. Contact Editor ith questions.
