PURPOSE
To provide an efficient, effective and timely HR service to the United Bible Societies Service Organisations.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Administration:
1. Manage HR records, manually and on HR software system, and ensure compliance with the Data Protection regulations.
2. Fulfil administrator function for HR software system, developing and monitoring its use and the records held thereon.
3. Monitor HR statistics such as sickness absence, staff turnover, equal opportunities, age profiles etc for the UBSSO.
4. Manage employment contracts, job descriptions and performance appraisals system.
Pensions:
5. Manage all aspects of the pension entitlements for the Guernsey and Inc. Pension Plans, which includes calculating pension entitlement options, annual pension reviews, other pension adjustments, maintaining records of all current, deferred and retired staff, advising the relevant payroll and liaising with the relevant pension administrators.
6. Manage all matters connected with participation of WSC and EME staff in the BFBS (1972) Pension Scheme.
7. Manage all matters connected with WSC and interregional staff on denominational and other pension programmes approved by UBS.
Recruitment and Employment:
8. Participate as required in the recruitment and selection process, from advertising to induction, for the WSC.
9. Ensure compliance of staff at the WSC with the United Kingdom Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
10. Participate in, monitor and evaluate the induction process at the WSC.
Employee Pay and Benefits:
11. Assist with all aspects of the remuneration entitlement of staff, including the calculation and administration of all benefits and allowances, annual salary reviews, other salary adjustments and advising the relevant payroll providers.
12. Provide advice and assistance with job assessments, promotions and grading reviews
13. Assist with the salary scale reviews for the UBSSO.
Health & Safety and Welfare:
14. Ensure the Health and Safety policy at the WSC is complied with and that risk assessments, including fire, first aid, Display Screen Equipment, COSHH, hazards and electricity at work, are undertaken and implemented as legally required.
15. Assist with WSC staff welfare issues as requested, ensuring that HR and Health and Safety matters are appropriately addressed.
Training and Development:
16. Assist with training and development matters of WSC staff as requested.
Budgets:
17. Prepare and revise the employment costs for the WSC budget, which includes obtaining the interregional costs from the Director of Translations for incorporation.
18. Day to day monitoring of the HR budget.
Direction and Policy:
19. Ensure Staff Manual – Part 2 and the WSC Staff Handbook are kept up to date, and once approved, are communicated and readily available to staff.
20. Ensure HR policies and procedures for the WSC comply with current UK employment law, and once approved, are communicated and readily available to staff.
21. Prepare and update global HR policies as requested, and once approved, communicate them to the members of the Global Senior Management Team for dissemination amongst their staff.
22. Provide assistance with the preparation of HR related items for the Global Senior Management Team and/or Global Board.
23. Monitor the compliance with HR policies, procedures, Staff Manual – Part 2 and WSC Staff Handbook.
24. Ensure compliance with, and provide advice and training on employment law and issues.
25. Prepare redundancy calculations and letters, and participate in the process as required.
Other Duties:
26. Undertake surveys and provide reports for HR related issues as required.
27. Provide support to appointed external HRM/HRD consultants.
28. Respond to HR queries from and liaise with HR suppliers.
29. Provide HR advice and assistance as requested by other Service Organisation Offices.
30. Monitor the HR work of and provide HR training and guidance to the HR Practitioners in the ASCs.
31. Undertake other HR related duties as required in the context of this job description.

Requisite Qualifications, Skills and Experience
· Fluent written and spoken English, working knowledge of French and Spanish desirable
· Several years experience in HR administration and a professional HR qualification desired
· A knowledge of international and expatriate compensation systems
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
· Logical and methodical mind, combined with attention to detail
· Sympathetic to the aims of the United Bible Societies

Outline of Terms of Service
· Current salary range £29,000-£34,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)
· 37.5 working hours per week (8.45 a.m. - 5.15 p.m. with an hour’s lunch break).
· 25 working days annual vacation plus bank holidays.
