Objectives

  1. Students will find the distance between and midpoint for points in the coordinate plane.
  2. Students will write equations of conic sections in standard form, find their components, and graph them.
  3. Students will identify conic sections from their equations.
  4. Students will find sums, differences, products and quotients of rational expressions.
  5. Students will recognize and solve direct and inverse variations.
  6. Students will solve rational equations and inequalities.
  7. Students will simplify, evaluate, and solve logarithmic expressions/equations using the properties of logarithms.
  8. Students will solve exponential equations and inequalities using logarithms and the change of base formula.
  9. Students will use arithmetic and geometric sequences and find their means and sums.
  10. Students will solve problems involving independent and dependent events.
  11. Students will solve problems involving permutations and combinations.
  12. Students will investigate the special relationships in certain right triangles.
  13. Students will find the trigonometric values and their inverses for acute and general angles.
  14. Students will convert measures between radians and degrees.
  15. Students will solve problems using the Law of Sines and Law of Cosines.
  16. Students will define and use trigonometric functions based on the unit circle.
