PASSENGER ASSISTANCE INFORMATION
PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT
The wellbeing of all passengers and visitors to Perth Airport is our highest priority. To assist in the provision of the best service available, passengers are asked to advise their airline or travel agent when making a flight booking of any assistance required at the airport. Your airline or travel agent can then make any necessary arrangements, for example, book a wheelchair or reserve a specific seating requirement for a guide dog.
It is also important to check if medical clearance is required by the airline for your specific circumstances. Each airline has different guidelines on the carriage of people with reduced mobility and requirements for additional assistance.
Guide dogs
Guide dogs are welcome in all areas of Perth Airport. Please check with the airline you are travelling with regarding arrangements onboard your flight.
ARRIVING AT THE AIRPORT
Please ensure that you arrive at the airport in plenty of time before your flight. Your travel agent or airline will advise the check-in time for your flight.
Passenger pick-up and drop-off
Passenger pick-up and drop-off facilities are in place at Perth Airport’s International and Domestic Terminals. Designated drop-off bays are allocated in front of the terminals to facilitate wheelchair transfer for passengers, however, for security reasons, the driver must remain with the vehicle at all times.
If you require assistance from the kerbside to the check-in counter, or have any other needs during your time at Perth Airport, please contact your airline, prior to your departure date, to ask what support they are able to offer you.
Services provided by airlines include the loan of wheelchairs for use within the terminal and to board/disembark aircraft. Passengers must request this service when booking their ticket and reconfirm with the airline prior to travelling.
Parking
Designated accessible car parking bays are conveniently located in each car park at Perth Airport. In the Short Term car parks at both the Domestic and International Terminals, the dedicated accessible parking bays are located as close as possible to the terminals. These bays are clearly marked and are restricted for vehicles displaying a valid ACROD sticker.
In the Long Term car parks at the Domestic Terminals and within Long Term H at the International Terminal, the dedicated accessible parking bays are located as close as possible to the bus shelters for the shuttle bus servicing the car parks to the terminals. These bays are clearly marked and are restricted for vehicles displaying a valid ACROD sticker.
Free shuttle bus service
Perth Airport operates a shuttle bus between the Long Term car parks and the International and Domestic Terminals. These shuttle buses are specifically designed to lower to the ground with extendable ramps, allowing access for people who use a wheeled mobility aid.
The shuttle buses are free, air conditioned and operate approximately every 10 minutes between the terminals and the Long Term car parks. The shelters where the bus stops provide shelter from the weather and feature seating and flight information screens. (At the International Terminal, this service is only available from Long Term car park H.)
Taxis
Passengers requiring a wheelchair-accessible taxi on arrival at Perth Airport should approach the on-duty Taxi Marshal located near the taxi rank who will request a Maxi Taxi, which accommodates wheelchairs.

ACCESS IN THE TERMINALS
Automatic doors and lifts
There are automatic doors and lifts to all levels of the Domestic and International Terminals.
Toilet facilities
Public toilets are located throughout the Domestic and International Terminals. Each toilet facility includes an accessible toilet.
Wheelchairs available for use within the terminals
Wheelchairs are available on request for passengers to use within the terminals, subject to availability from your airline. Please contact your airline prior to your arrival at Perth Airport to arrange this.
TTY phones
A TTY telephone is available on the Ground Floor at the International Terminal (T1).
Security screening
Procedures:
In accordance with Australian Government regulations, all passengers embarking on a flight departing from the International or Domestic Terminals at Perth Airport are subject to passenger and checked baggage screening. Prior preparation by passengers is essential to ensure smoothsecurity processing.
Medical Implants:
If you have a pacemaker, implanted cardioconverter
defibrillator or any other medical device fitted, please notify a screening officer and you will not have to pass through the frame of the walk-through metal detector. The screening officer will advise you of the screening process that will be required prior to you entering the Departure Lounge.
Artificial Limbs/Prosthesis:
Passengers should notify the screening officer of their condition and request separate screening to avoid passing through a metal detector.
Walking aids:
If you use a walking-aid, the screening staff will ask you to walk through the frame of the walk-through metal detector without the walking-aid. If you cannot walk through the frame of the walk-through metal detector without the assistance of a walking-aid, you will be asked to sit in a plastic chair while a hand held metal detector search is conducted. Walking aids must also be screened and, as such, may require X-Ray or Explosive Trace Detection. Screening points have chairs and walking aids available for you to use during this process.
Wheelchairs:
Staff are very familiar with the movement of passengers using a wheelchair and will facilitate passengers directly to the screening point. Passengers and their wheelchairs will be required to undergo screening.
If you are able to walk unaided, you will be asked to walk through the frame of the walk-through metal detector. If you are unable to move from your wheelchair, screening officers will obtain consent to conduct a frisk search. Before a frisk search is carried out, the screener will offer you the use of aprivate search room. A physical search of the wheelchair will also be conducted. Private screening rooms are available upon request.
Boarding the aircraft
Procedures:
Most airlines have arrangements in place for passengers requiring assistance and allow them to board the aircraft first and disembark last. We recommend that you contact the airline you are travelling with prior to your flight to discuss your needs.
