FUEL PRICE REPORT NOVEMBER 2007
The price of Brent crude, that climbed above $90 a barrel at the start of November and stayed there, is now making its mark at UK filling stations. In addition, supermarkets letting their prices rise closer to those of other retailers, the Coryton oil refinery fire at the end of October, and the breaching of the psychological £1-a-litre barrier have added impetus to record high prices at the pump.
Nationally, unleaded prices have risen by 3.8ppl to 101.5ppl. Diesel prices have also risen by 5.6ppl to 105.4ppl. The price difference between unleaded and diesel has increased from 2.1ppl to 3.9ppl.
Northern Ireland recorded the highest price for unleaded at 102.5ppl followed by East Anglia at 102.1ppl. Scotland recorded the lowest price for unleaded at 100.8ppl. Wales recorded the highest diesel price at 106.2ppl, followed by East Anglia at 106ppl. The North West still has the cheapest diesel at 104.7ppl.
Supermarket prices for unleaded also rose over the month by 4.1ppl to 100.1ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has fallen slightly to 1.4ppl (last month the difference was 1.7ppl).
Overseas prices have also risen. The UK has the fourth highest unleaded price in Europe and the highest diesel price.
