Adrian Watlington-Cox, Council’s Chairperson
Dear Georgia PTA Councils,Let me be the first to say thank you for all of your hard work this school year. Your Georgia PTA Executive Committee has just come back from our National PTA Convention in Austin, Texas. A lot of fellowshipping with other states, pin swapping, great workshops and the weather stayed nice. We learned some new ideas and shared some ideas.
It is now time to get back to preparing for our 100th Georgia PTA Convention, which will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia. We are looking for representation from every council & local unit. It will be great to behold 100 years of celebrating our Convention Leadership Training where we have been trained to advocate even more effectively for children. If you have not registered yet, please do so. Although we will offer on-site registration, our pre-registration will close on Thursday, July 3. All of our speakers are dynamic, and we will be honored with the presence of our 2013-14 Georgia Teacher of the Year. The Georgia PTA Health and Wellness Committee is also hosting a “first ever” Biggest Loser Contest. Get your teams together, and create a snazzy name for them. One of our business partners is hosting a Reception on Friday evening that will offer complimentary food and drinks. Do not forget about the Youth Summit, Male Involvement Summit, and the Emerging Minority Leadership Conference. Our National President will also be joining us at this CLT.
We are looking for folks to volunteers at CLT. Contact the state office if you have the time and would like to be an active participant. I would love to see each of you come out to your district meetings so I can come by and personally extend my thanks. Let’s kick it up a notch this year and put our membership numbers at the top of all the state PTA Congresses.
Wishing you great success in the 2014-2015school term,
Adrian Watlington-Cox
