Dear Parents

Parents’evenings

As you know parents’ evenings take place this Thursday, March 20th and next Tuesday, March 25th. Please ensure you sign up for an appointment or speak to class teachers to arrange an alternative time. We are looking forward to talking to you about your children.

Accompanying this letter is a flyer containing details about a cheaper uniform supplier. The governors are anxious to ensure that parents get best value for money when buying uniform and the comparative prices of our existing supplier and Tesco are set out for you. At parents’ evening samples of both uniforms will be available for you to look at and we ask you to express a preference. We will inform you of the outcome before the end of the term and will ensure that the samples are available until then for you to look at in case you do not attend the parents’ evenings on the scheduled dates. Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Sports Relief

On Friday children may come to school in their sports/P.E. clothes and they will enjoy some sporting challenges during the day. We are asking for a voluntary donation which we will send to the BBC Sports Relief appeal. Please ensure they have correct P.E. footwear.

Supervision of children before/after school

We politely request that you supervise children carefully before and after school and encourage them to follow our school rules. Firstly, please do not allow children to ride bikes or scooters in the school grounds. They should wheel these vehicles at all times in the grounds and park them in the store. Secondly, please do not allow children to swing on gates or lamp-posts. They may get hurt and cause damage to these items. Thirdly, please do not allow children to play with toys stored in the covered areas outside the classrooms. It is proving difficult to keep these as clean and tidy as we would like. Many many thanks for helping us in these matters.

Easter Bonnet Parade/Easter Egg Hunt

On Friday April 4th the children will enjoy their annual Easter Egg Hunt in the school grounds. They may come to school in their own clothes or Easter fancy dress on this day also. If they wish they may bring an Easter bonnet/hat for the Easter Parade! We will award a first, second and third prize in each class for the best design!

Attendance

You may remember that earlier this academic year I wrote to you regarding school attendance. The government places attendance very high in its priorites for school governors and links it very closely to school performance and children’s progress and achievement. It removed parents’ right to request up to 10 days in a school year for holiday during term time and Norfolk Children’s Services responded to this at the end of last term in its guidance to schools. Our governors have

considered this guidance very carefully over its last two meetings and have decided to follow it, in part from the start of next term and in full from September 2014. Before the end of this term you will receive details of these changes and we ask that you read them very carefully. They will be handed to you in a sealed envelope at the beginning or end of a school day so that we are sure every parent receives the information. If you do not regularly come to the school because of work commitments the information will be posted to you, as it will to parents on our mailing list who live separately from their children.

We break up for the Easter holiday on Friday April 4th and welcome the children back to school on Wednesday April 23rd. We hope you have a peaceful and sunny break!
