CHANGE OF SCHEDULE (Drop/Add)

Students may add courses to their schedules during the first two (2) weeks of enrollment of a regular semester and during the first week of an eight-week summer session, or during a proportionate period for a short session. Students may drop a course up to the end of the tenth (10th) week of a regular semester and receive a grade of "W". After the tenth (10th) week of a regular semester, students dropping a course will be assigned a grade of "W" or "F" by the instructor of the course that is being dropped. NO DROP FORMS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THE LAST DAY. Grades of "W" or "F" for dropping a course in a shorter session will be computed on the basis of a proportionate period.

WITHDRAWAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY

Students wishing to withdraw from all classes must initiate the action in the Office of Academic Affairs. If this is not done, the student will not have officially withdrawn, and all grades for the semester will be recorded as received from the instructor. Any student withdrawing after the tenth (10th) week of a regular semester will receive a grade of "W". A grade of "W"

or "F" for a shorter session will be computed on the basis of a proportionate period.

WHERE TO GO FOR HELP

Langston University offers academic assistance from tutoring to specialized laboratories and centers to aid your matriculation. You can go to the following sources for academic assistance:

Instructor – If you have questions regarding your class, talk to your instructor. Faculty members include their office hours and/or phone number in the class syllabus. If you cannot locate this information, set a time to meet with your instructor by speaking with him/her prior to or immediately following your class session or check with the departmental office on when the instructor may be available.

Academic Advisor – All students will benefit by conferring with an advisor on a regular basis. If you do not know your advisor, or if are unhappy with your advisor, talk to the Dean for your academic school.

Library Hours:

Monday – Thursday:7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday: 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Math Lab: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. – Jones Hall 201 – Peer tutors are available on Monday-Thursday evenings. The math lab coordinator is also available for tutoring during office hours. Computers are available for students to access online assignments and tutorials. Instructional videotapes and DVDs, which are companions for the current textbooks, are available for viewing.

University College Tutoring Services: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. – The tutoring services provided by University College cover two areas: individual and computer assisted. The one-on-one tutoring is facilitated by peer tutors for all general education courses. The computer-assisted tutoring is done with the A+ program together with peer tutor “coaches” who assist the students as they work in the disciplines of English, mathematics, science, and reading. Some additional assistance may be available for introductory courses such as psychology, humanities, sociology, government and history. University College tutoring is located in the University Women building on the 3rd floor, room 308. (405)-466-3326.

Reading and Writing Labs: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Jones Hall 101 – Utilize computers, audio technology, and individual tutorial services to help develop reading/writing abilities and oral language skills. A selection of computer software and audiotapes is available to enhance further development of individual language skills and reading strategies.

Counseling Center: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. – (405)466-3400 The chief concern of the Professional Counseling Center is to enhance student retention by providing psychological assistance in the form of individual and group counseling. The focus of the Counseling Center is to assist students to minimize the impact of personal problems on academic performance. The Professional Counseling Center also provides treatment for problems associated with the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. The Counseling Center additionally facilitates campus-wide drug education seminars and workshops as well as HIV/AIDS preventative information and counseling. Theme-specific mental health forums are routinely provided by the Professional Counseling Center staff to classes and special populations such as residence halls and campus organizations. The services of the Profession Counseling Center are provided without charge to currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. The Center is open between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. ADA OFFICER

Mrs. Cynthia Buckley has been named the ADA Officer for Langston University. If her services are needed, she can be contacted at (405)466-3204. Mrs. Buckley’s office is located in Page Hall, room222.

Title IX: Discrimination/Sexual Harassment

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. The law specifically states "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” If you are involved in or witness any potential Title IX violations, your role is to report the matter immediately to the Title IX coordinator(s) listed below:
