Call to order and introductions: Vice-Chairperson Gahring called the meeting to order at 5:05 pm.
Administrative Update:
· Approval of minutes: Motion by Mulcahey; second by Clark to approve the October 18, 2017 minutes. Motion carried.
· Budget tracking: The Clear Creek Watershed Coalition is on track and on budget. The next item will be Stream Corridor Design.
· WMA’s of Iowa, next meeting is January 24th via web-meeting.
· New Board members, Johnson County and Oxford, Johnson County will be appointing their representative soon, Jennifer will reach out to Oxford.
· There is a Iowa House Bill (HF 2008) in the works to change the name of Watershed Management Authority. If this passes we and all other WMA’s will have to re-acquire signatures from all partners and many will have to make name and logo changes.
Clear Creek Watershed Planning Process Update:
· Watershed Assessment: Winding down, Tech Team meeting is upcoming.
· Social Assessment: Draft report coming soon, good response rate, ~ 39% from the rural survey and ~27% from the urban survey.
· Goal Setting: Expect to have a meeting in early March, possibly a “lunch & learn”.
Iowa Watershed Approach (IWA) Update:
· Hydrologic Assessment: Antonio Arenas presented information about Flood Disaster and funds allocated in Iowa counties from 1988 to 2016.
· Flood Center Resilience Team: Craig Just gave a presentation on flooding, vulnerable populations and damage forecasts for structures in their beta version of Resiliency mapping.
· Iowa Center for Evaluation and Assessment: Julie Kearney reviewed survey results from our last meeting.
· City of Coralville: Dan Holderness, city Engineer, gave an update about the two pump stations that the HUD grant helped fund.
· Practice Implementation Process:
o John Rathbun presented the draft contract for engineering services and the sub-committee recommendation to move forward. Motion by Bailey, second by Clark to approve the contract with Clapsaddle-Garber Associates (CGA) and recommend approval by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. Motion carried.
o Rathbun presented the revised Application for Assistance form that landowners will complete to request assistance. Motion by Bailey, second by Maas to approve the Application for Assistance as revised. Motion carried.
o Rathbun reported on Citizen Science training for the nitrate testing phone application that Chris Jones presented on at our last meeting.
Announcements & Events:
· Landowner Informational Meetings: January 29th at Kent Park & January 30th at the Williamsburg Public Library, both starting at 6:00 pm
· IIHR, Citizen Science Training, Monday January 22nd, Trowbridge Hall, University of Iowa.
Next CCWC Board meeting:
CCWC quarterly Board meeting schedule is third the Wednesday in Jan, Apr, July, & Oct at 5:00 pm.
