What is a Patient Participation Group? PPG

The PPG is a group of volunteer patients who are involved in

making sure the practice provides the services the patients need.

PPGs are a valuable source of information about patients’ views and experiences.

To deliver high quality services, it is important that GP Practices involve patients and the public in making decisions about services and then evaluating their success.

Willington Medical Group sees the PPG as an ideal opportunity to gain patients’ views and incorporate them into how they operate and improve services.

Outcomes to date

We have identified a number of issues. This has led to

improved accessibility of all outside and internal areas

dedicated wheelchair spaces in reception

review of the TV Life Channel in reception

childrens play area with books and toys in reception

dedicated noticeboards-for example Carers and Young

Carers

inclusion of PPG information in the Practice monthly

newsletter and website

availability of documents in large print
