Setting
The UNESCAP internship is for 2 months with an opportunity for extension up to 6 months, depending on the needs of the department.
Interns are hired on a rolling basis. Students needs to report the intended period of internship.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
For non-Korean nationals, UNESCAP supports a 3-month (C3) visa by issuing the internship letter.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities
1. Environment Affairs
Interns will be assigned to conduct research on energy security and environmental sustainability including through North-East Asian SubregionalProgramme for Environmental Cooperation (NEASPEC, and assist in the implementation of activities. Specific topics and works will be mutually agreed with his/her supervisor. Five thematic areas of NEASPEC are as follows:
Transboundary air pollution
Nature conservation
Marine protected areas
Low carbon cities
Desertification and land degradation
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
Document, legal and internet research
Assistance during conferences
Working on web-presentation
Evaluation of projects
Compiling statistics
Media analysis
Speech-writing
2. Economic Affairs
Interns will be assigned to conduct research on specific topics in one/some of the following areas and assist in the implementation of activities. Specific topics and works will be mutually agreed with his/her supervisor:
National socio-economic policies including but not limited to implementation of priority areas of SDGs implementation in the East and North-East Asia subregion;
Subregional connectivity including trade, investment and transport;
Development cooperation or means of implementation;
Intra- and inter-subregional cooperation mechanisms (including on innovation, financial cooperation, infrastructure financing and disaster risk reduction);
Collaboration between policy makers and civil society in formulating and implementing socio-economic policies

3. Information Systems and Communication Technology
The intern will assist SRO-ENEA in undertaking outreach research and developing outreach strategies for the short, medium and long term as well as in updating and improving a website of the Office and general information requirements and providing public information design services to the SRO:
select from scientific literature information relevant to the subject scope of SRO;
assist in preparation of outreach strategies of promotional/advocacy materials for SRO;
assist staff in outreach and information dissemination-related activities;
develop and maintain up-to-date public information strategy of the SRO;
assist in maintaining SRO’s website;
assist staff in supporting the implementation of relevant public events;
maintain an up-to-date list of contact addresses, publication distribution lists.
