Here’s a check list of things you must submit before you are allowed to enter the selection for Student Council at Fossil Ridge High School.

2 online teacher recommendations from 2 teachers or staff members that know you well. Online recommendation forms can be found at

1 completed questionnaire sheet (see reverse page- answers must be typed).

1 video (up to 60 seconds in length) of you answering the following question: what sets you apart from other candidates and makes you a great choice for Student Council at Fossil Ridge High School?Email your video to . The subject of the email should read: “Last Name, First Name Application Video.” Email must be received by noon on Monday, February 22nd.

General Selection Information:

  • Up to8incoming 9th graders will be selected through this application/interview process.
  • All students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0without any disciplinary issues at your current school to qualify.
  • After submitting this packet of materials, qualified candidates will be contacted by phone; ensure the phone number listed is correct.

Important Dates to Remember:

  • The deadlines here are absolute and concrete. Make certain you have all of your paperwork in by the deadlines. If ANY paperwork is missing on February 22nd, you will not be considered for an interview.
  • Between the time that you receive this packet and the February 22nd deadline, please give have two staff members who know you best complete the online teacher recommendation form. Recommendations must be submitted by the February 22nd deadline.

  • Students will be called and interviews will be scheduled.

  • Interview Day @ Fossil Ridge High School – 3:30-6:00 pm

Fossil Ridge High School Student Council Questionnaire

Please answer these questions honestly, using specific examples where appropriate.

  1. Our mission statement is listen, learn, lead. Knowing this, what interests you in becoming a member of Student Council?
  2. How have you led your peers at your school during the current school year?
  3. What sets you apart from other candidates?
  4. Briefly tell us about your interests. How else will you try to be involved at FRHS?

IF SELECTED... SOME EXPECTATIONS:

1. You are a selected leader of this school and will be expected to carry yourself in all walks of your life as a leader

2. Student Council takes a great deal of devotion and time. Please be advised you will be expected to put in numerous hours of out of school time into this organization.

3. You will need to be at all Student Council activities unless previous arrangements are made with the Advisor.

4. Grades and removals:

  • You will be responsible for maintaining a 2.5cumulative GPA as a member.
  • It is expected that you attend class and pass all other classes.
  • If you are suspended from school for disciplinary reasons you will be removed from Student Council.

5. Student Council is a class, and just like any class, you will be given a grade. Do not assume that all grades given are “As”.
