Flights and Flight Reimbursement Policy
The employee is entitled to, per 6-month period of a contract term, a flight allowance/ticket. No air ticket or flight allowance will be provided for the employee in the case where he/she enters a contract period of less than 6 months. This clause applies to both first year and subsequent contracts, overseas and internal recruitment.
The flight ticket/allowance for any contract period of more than 6 months but less than 12 months shall be calculated pro-rata provided the employee successfully completes the contract term.
The city of departure shall be a location with an international airport within the Employee’s country of passport, unless otherwise agreed by both parties. Market value shall be the cheapest price that the Employer is able to purchase a fixed date, economy ticket from the market. The flight allowance shall be subject to tax.
- Overseas recruitment (Academic Staff).
1.1.If the employee purchases their own flight, the cost of the ticket must be pre approved by the school for it to be reimbursed.
1.1.a.If the Employee has purchased a single ticket the cost of this will be reimbursed in full after 6 months.
1.1.b.On completion of the contract the school will provide the Employee with a single ticket or a cash allowance to the value of a market price single ticket.
1.1.c.If the Employee purchases a return ticket, 50% will be reimbursed after 6 months and the other 50% on completion of the contract.
1.1.d.In either of the above cases reimbursement will be pro rata if the Employee breaks their contract. The repayments will be held against costs incurred by the school.
1.2.If the Employee does not have funds available to purchase their own flights then the school will purchase the tickets.
1.2.a.If the school purchases a single ticket the school will deduct the cost of this ticket from the first three months of the Employee’s salary. The Employee will receive repayment of the amount deducted after 6 months.
1.2.b.On completion of the contract the school will provide the Employee with a single ticket or a cash allowance to the value of a market price single ticket.
1.2.c.If the school purchases a return ticket for the Employee then the Employee must submit the ticket to the school on arrival. The school will deduct the cost of 50% of the ticket from the first 3 months salaries, and will repay the deducted amount after 6 months. The ticket will be given back to the Employee on completion of the 12 month contract.
1.2.d.If the Employee breaks their contract they will only be given the return ticket on repayment of outstanding debts to the school.
1.3.No air ticket or flight allowance will be provided for the employee in the case where he/she enters a contract period of less than 6 months. This clause applies to both first and subsequent contracts.
1.4.In the case where the employee extends a contract of less than 12 months to a 12-month term and completes the extended term, the employee is entitled to a further flight allowance as set out in 3. of this article.
1.5.In the case of second year contracts with a contract term of no less than 6 months where the employee wishes to return for a short vacation before commencing the second year of employment the above stated points remain.The employee will be entitled to an air ticket or flight allowance per six-month period according to the above clauses, provided that he/she completes his/her second year term successfully.
- Internal (China) Recruitment
1.1.On successful completion of the full-year, 12 month contract, the employee shall be entitled to a flight allowance in cash amounting to the market value of a return ticket from the (city of employment) to (city of destination). Market value is based upon the lowest quotation obtained, provided it is no less than 5,000RMB net and no more than 14,000RMB net.
