It is with great excitement and anticipation that we begin our inaugural track and field season at DeSana Middle School. In this first season of DeSana Track, we will lay the foundation for a program that will be both inclusive and challenging. Simply put, our main focus will be developing student-athletes to compete to the best of their abilities so that DeSana Track is a competitive and winning program. With this goal in mind, we will concentrate on developing every individual on the team for specific track and field events that match this skill set. We will also help our student-athletes work toward meeting the rigor and demands of high school track and field and Cross Country Programs so that they are prepared to continue on in these programs if they choose.

We encourage all students to come out for the track and field conditioning sessions at the beginning of February. The schedule for all the track and field meetings, practices and meets is included in this informational packet, as well as on the DeSana website under Athletics Track and Field. Please take a few minutes to review all requirements concerning athletes’ eligibility, physical forms and health insurance. These required documents can be found on the athletics page of the DeSana website and must be completed and returned to the front office, to Ms. Lisa Garcia, before a student may participate in the track and field conditioning. These documents include:

  • 4 Page Physical Form
  • 2 Page Blanket Permission Participation Form
  • 1 Page Checklist
  • 1 Page Concussion Form
  • 1 Page Athlete Info Form

Documents may also be obtained from Coach Duplantis.

Along with these documents listed above, each athlete is responsible for a transportation and uniform fee of $150. This fee includes:

  • Team t-shirt ($15)
  • Team sweatshirt ($50)
  • Beanie Hat ($10)
  • Transportation ($55)
  • Uniform Rental Fee ($20)

A schedule and calendar for the Track and Field season are included in this packet, as well as listed on the Track and Field home page on our DeSana website, Athletics section, listing specific dates and times of track and field events. It is the expectation of the coaches that all members of the team will attend all practices and meets. If an athlete needs to miss a practice or meet, the parent should email Coach Duplantis as soon as possible concerning the missed event. I can be contacted at .

There will be a parent and athlete informational meeting about the Track and Field Program on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the DeSana media center. I hope you will join us. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have about our DeSana Track and Field Program. Go Dragons!

Sincerely,
