Course Description: The Physical Education curriculum will concentrate on all areas of physical development. Classes will stress the importance of student participation and sportsmanship, while learning and performing various skills. We will focus on increasing your strength, endurance and flexibility. We offer a variety of activities so students can find activities that he or she enjoys and will continue throughout life in order to maintain an active, healthy lifestyle.
Course Objectives:
• We provide ideas for the wise use of leisure time
• We help students develop self-confidence and promote positive self-image, while gaining useful physical skills.
• We expose the student to a wide variety of physical activities in which the student may participate throughout their lifetime
Class Expectations/Rules:
· Be on time
· Go Directly to Dress
o If you can’t participate, you will still dress out and walk
o Doctor excuse showing you can not do any physical activity will result in you researching fitness for a lifetime on iPad
o You will have 5 minutes to dress out and be back in your correct role call spot
· Go directly to your role call spot
· Participate
· Always abide by the rules
· Always be Respectful
· NO FOOD IN GYM
Dress Code:
MUST ABIDE BY SCHOOL DRESS CODE in the Student Handbook
· T-Shirts (Must be worn at all times, No Spaghetti Straps)
· Gym Shorts/Sweat Pants (Proper length, no sagging, no short shorts)
· Tennis Shoes (Rubber soles-No high heels, flip-flops, boots, etc.)
Weekly Schedule (iPad will be needed everyday):
· Monday (Free Workout and MyFitnessPal)
· Tueday (Game Play and MyFitnessPal)
· Wednesday (Fitness Test Component, Free Workout, and MyFitnessPal)
· Thursday (Game Play and MyFitnessPal)
· Friday (Submit MyFitnessPal and Free Choice)
Materials Needed:
· Shoes
· Tshirts
· Shorts
· Ipad
o Apps Needed (MyFitnessPal, Pic Stitch, Daily Free Workouts)
· Lock for PE locker (used only during your period)
Attendance:
· Excused - Daily points received
· Unexcused - Loss of daily dress and participation points
· Tardy – If you are tardy or have been absent, do not come in the classroom without an excuse from the office, 5 Tardies=ISS
Grading:
· Weekly Participation- 100 points/20 per day
· Weekly Dressing out- 100 points/20 per day
· Weekly Food Journal Entries-100 points/25 per day (Monday-Thursday)
Grade Percentage:
· Dressing Out – 20%
· Participation – 20%
· Food Journal – 20%
· Midterm (Fitness Test) – 20%
· Final (Fitness Test) – 20%
