If you are absent on the day of a test or quiz, you will be expected to take the test/quiz on the day you return. If you are absent on the review day, you will still take the test on its scheduled day.
There will be no opportunity to make up work due to unexcused absences.

Accessing Class Documents & Calendar: I will be using Google Calendar to post daily lesson pdfs and assignments. You will need to subscribe to the PreCalculus calendar using the link on my district webpage. Larger documents I will send out through Hapara so you will need to check your district Gmail account frequently. The course syllabus/expectations document will be sent out through Hapara.

Grading Policy: Your grade will be based on the following criteria:

Assessment Methods – 70% No retakes, no notes,

·  Tests – Tests will be used to determine levels of conceptual understanding at the end of each unit. They will be announced in advance and no retakes will be allowed since it is assumed that each student will be prepared in advance. If you are absent on the review day, expect to take the test on the scheduled day.

·  Quizzes – There will be quizzes given throughout each unit. Most quizzes will be announced, with the possibility of a few pop quizzes. No retakes will be allowed.

·  All missed assessments must be made up within the same number of days absent or the assessment will become a zero. (1 day absent = 1 day to make-up) If you believe a special case applies and more time should be given to make up the test/quiz, then please come to talk to me BEFORE the assessment to explain your reasoning.

·  Your calculator’s memory will be cleared prior to all assessments. No memory cleared = no test. No Exceptions!

Homework:– 20%

·  HW will be checked for completion and correctness using homework. Progress checks will be given periodically and may count towards your homework grade or an assessment grade. Progress checks are graded for correctness and for NOT for completion.

·  Daily Homework – Students will be assigned homework to practice concepts on a daily basis. In general, homework will be due the next class day for a short class discussion. Homework is scored on a 4-3-2-1-0 point scale. You must have 100% of your HW completed to earn a 4.

Final Exam – 10%

IHS Academic Honesty Policy

Inglemoor High School adheres to a philosophy of promoting honest and ethical behavior among its students. Cheating is unacceptable. The following policy becomes effective upon enrollment at Inglemoor and is cumulative until graduation.

Cheating is defined as any attempt to present work as the student’s own when it is not. This includes the use of unauthorized materials. Students who allow their work to be copied will also be disciplined.

1st Offense...... will result in an assistant principal referral. A parent/student conference will be scheduled with all of the student’s teachers where the student will explain the circumstances contributing to the cheating offense; loss of credit on the assignment/exam; and Saturday School.

2nd Offense...... will result in an assistant principal referral, parent contact, loss of credit on the assignment/exam, and attending an eight-hour cheating intervention class.

3rd Offense ...... will result in an assistant principal referral, and will include parent contact, suspension, loss of credit for the class in question, and referral for counseling.

4th Offense ...... regardless of subject, will result in an assistant principal referral, parent contact, loss of credit in all classes, and the student will audit their classes for the remainder of the semester.

• Students who cheat are subject to a monetary fine for the extra time staff spends to research an incident. The fine will be placed into a curriculum budget.

Further offenses will result in expulsion from Inglemoor High School.

True education cultivates honor, academic honesty, character, and perseverance, along with the growth of knowledge and the development of thinking skills. Personal integrity determines our actions and influences every aspect of life. Authentic work is based on the student’s individual and original ideas with the ideas and work of others fully acknowledged. All assignments, written or oral, completed by a student for assessment and grading must use the student’s own language and expression. Sources used or referenced, whether in the form of direct quotation or paraphrase, must be fully and appropriately acknowledged. Understanding the meaning of academic honesty and applying it daily is of primary importance in the educational program of all students at Inglemoor High School.
