Jackass star STEVE-O was arrested after climbing up a construction crane in Hollywood on Sunday. Steve-O climbed up with an inflatable Orca as a protest against SeaWorld and set off fireworks while he was up there. More than 80 firefighters and 30 LAPD officers were called to the scene after they received reports that it was a potential suicide. It was one small bite for man yesterday aboard the International Space Station as for the first time ever astronauts ate lettuce that was grown in space. It’s considered an important breakthrough for future space travel, especially if we send humans to Mars. Oreo has created a new cookie called the brownie batter Oreo! It’s just as the name implies – a regular Oreo cookie with brownie batter flavored crème filling. Oreo says the new cookies are in stores now.
If you’re looking for a high-paying job, a new report says the 13 best-paying companies in the Standard & Poor's 500 pay median annual salaries of $115,000. The Securities and Exchange Commission passed new rules last week that require companies to disclose how many times more CEOs are paid than employees. Thanks to that, we now know that the top five paying companies are Juniper Networks, Netflix, Equinix, Altera and Visa.

According to a study by Facebook, the most common way to express laughter online is haha, followed by various emoji and then hehe. If you like statistics, 51.4 percent of online laughter was haha-based, while emojis accounted for 33.7 percent and Hehe was used by only 13.1 percent. However, LOL is no laughing matter as it was used by only 1.9 percent. Geographically, LOLs are more popular in southern states, while the Midwestloves emojis and the west coast is big on the hehes and hahas. They also found young people and women prefer emoji, whereas men prefer longer hehes; people in Chicago and New York prefer emoji, while Seattle and San Francisco prefer hahas.Apparently people are no longer ROTFL.
A group of scientists have released a report saying that the key to maintaining a healthy weight isn't limiting calories, but increasing exercise. Exercise scientist Steven Blair said, "Most of the focus in the popular media and in the scientific press is, 'Oh they're eating too much, eating too much, eating too much'—blaming fast food, blaming sugary drinks and so on and there's really virtually no compelling evidence that…is the cause." What Blair didn’t say is that his group of scientists was paid by Coca-Cola, who wants to sell more sugary drinks.

A Japanese company unveiled a portable transportation device called the WalkCar. It’s a 6.6-pound device that looks sort of like a bathroom scale with wheels. It has a top speed of about 6 mph and is designed to fit into a backpack when not being used. People will be able to preorder WalkCars in a Kickstarter campaign scheduled to launch in October. A new study from Stony Brook University finds that how you sleep could help reduce your chances of developing Alzheimer's. Researchers say that a person's body position while sleeping could affect how toxins are flushed from the brain. They say that lying on your side when you sleep is the most efficient position for toxins to flush through the system and thereby potentially warding off the onset of Alzheimer’s.
In one neighborhood in Wales, the streetlights have been fitted with new LED bulbs. If you’re wondering why the town would go to that expense, it was because the regular bulbs were luring away male glowworms, which meant they were failing to mate with the females. This was discovered by amateur naturalist Jenni Cox, who reported her findings to the national glow worm survey, and who knew there was one of those? Many experts believe the glowworm population is on the decline due to pesticides, loss of habitat and light pollution. However, thanks to Jenni, they’re thriving in Wales.
