Project Focus:

Situation

We all know that on every CD we buy, there are always some tracks which we don’t like so much. To save money Compilation albums like ‘NOW that’s what I call Music 64’ have been made, but they are not to everyone’s taste.

You have been asked to introduce YOUR favourite music to the world in the form of a compilation CD. You are going to choose the tracks, advertise it, name it, and even produce it!

Design Brief

You must research, and then design and make a Compilation CD containing your favourite tracks from your favourite artists. You must decide on the name of your album, what is going on it, who your target market is and what the sleeve in the CD and the booklet inside will be like. You must also advertise it.

How useful is the booklet? Find out people’s opinion by devising a simple questionnaire in the box below.. Try to find out what information they would like to find in the booklet (Song words? Pictures of the artist? Random pics? Information about the artist? Etc.) Do not ask open questions. Give alternatives so that answers are limited. Use Yes/No questions and multiple choice questions.

Designing

1. Produce 3 alternative designs for the CD inserts, both front AND back. Use the pre-printed sheets which are actual size.

2. Produce 2 alternative designs for the booklet to go inside. Use the template sheet for this too.

3. Design a poster to advertise your new compilation CD.

Making

Produce top quality work based on your chosen designs of the inserts, booklet and advertising poster/

Some, but not all, work may be done on the computer. Titles and lyrics would benefit and can be pasted into place as necessary
