To meet the requirements for transition you must complete an average of at least forty assignments or 40 hours interpreting per year, a minimum of 120 assignments or 120 hours over the three years.
An assignment is defined as any interpretingcompleted ranging from less than one hour to a maximum of one day. If an assignmentinvolves multiple days, each day should be recorded as a separate assignment.
Acceptable evidence of work practice includes:
- Proof of employment as an interpreter
Please provide an original signed letter from your employer(s) on company letterhead. The letter must clearly state you by name and NAATI number. It must clearlystate the period of employment, proportion of overall duties that interpreting formed, the language(s) and situations in which interpreting was performed and the regularity of interpreting workin each language during employment.
- Proof of assignments completed from a service provider
Please provide an original signed letter from the service provider on company letterhead. The letter must clearly state the language(s) in which interpreting was undertaken, the number of assignments completed in each languageand the period over which these assignments were completed.
- Summary of assignments completed
Please complete the rest of this document. Page 4 of this document must be signed.
- Proof of income as an interpreter from an accountant
Please provide a signed letter from your accountant on company letterhead. The letter must state your name and NAATI number and confirm that you derived regular income from translating and/or interpreting practice during the last three years.
