Acceptance of Grant and Insertion of Revenue Item into 2006 Budget
$9,008 from an Emergency Appropriation of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as passed through the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services for the Purpose of Funding Pandemic Influenza Preparedness at the Local Level
WHEREAS, N.J.S. 40A:4-87 provides that the Director of the Division of Local Government Services may approve the insertion of any special item of revenue in the budget of any county or municipality when such item shall have been made available by law and the amount thereof was not determined at the time of the adoption of the budget, and
WHEREAS, said Director may also approve the insertion of an item of appropriation for an equal amount, and
WHEREAS, the Township has received notification of an award of $9,008 from an emergency appropriation of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as passed through the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services for the purpose of funding Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and wishes to amend its 2006 budget to include this amount as a revenue
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Township Committee of the Township of Bernards accepts this $9,008 grant, and hereby requests the Director of the Division of Local Government Services to approve the insertion of an item of revenue from:

Consent of Director of Local Government Services - Public and
Private Revenues Offset with Appropriations:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a like sum of $9,008.00 total be and the same is hereby appropriated under the caption of:

USCDC / NJHSS Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Grant
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township Clerk forward two copies of this resolution to the Director of Local Government Services.

Explanatory Statement
This mini grant will be used for pandemic influenza planning for local public health agencies as a critical component to nation-wide preparedness. This grant does not require matching funds. Under Title 26, the Board of Health has the authority to write, review or approve grant applications. This authority is extended to the Health Officer by the Board of Health to expedite any grants that may be in the best interest of the public’s health.
