·  300-year-old Gray Oak on the uphill side of the path to Mary Baker Russell from the parking lot. Clover Creek used to run along the base of that hill and the tree looked over it for ¾ of a century before the declaration of independence was signed. I suggest labeling it and other example of native vegetation/historic interest on campus.

What projects should be done first?

·  Campus Safety improvements *******

·  Athletic Facilities ******

·  Restore and improve fountain just outside of library. Install/improve seating around the fountain and bring in some planters. Use this as a meeting place or an area for students to congregate ******

·  High need for quality fitness center *****

·  More Parking *****

·  Technology in class rooms *****

·  Library should be moved up the priority list. Ceilings are low, lighting is bad, it is claustrophobic and yet has no intimate places. It is a depressing place. The library needs to be updated. One person described it as a “60’s time warp”. Can a renovation happen? ****

·  KPLU/Eastvold ***

·  Sidewalk renovation and crosswalk additions ***

·  Upgrade all residence halls- specifically lower campus ***

·  Garfield Street revitalization b/c good for Parkland ***

·  East Campus as the outreach building makes a sad statement in the dilapidated building and placement far from central campus. What can we do to remodel, replace this building and more appropriately welcome and serve our surrounding community of which we are apart. **

·  Need a main entrance **

·  More research space **

·  Clear bushes in upper/lower campus divide **

·  University Center and dining services **

·  Ingram **

·  Flowers particularly at entry points to make more inviting-roses? **

·  Covered bicycle storage for commuters

·  Increased phone (emergency) coverage along hillside

·  Consider card swipe access control for building access control

·  Lower campus looks dowdy

·  Projectors and computers in classrooms, support issues such as lighting and blinds, consistency in available equipment, more large capacity classrooms 40-60 seats.

·  Residence Halls for students and the fitness facilities are considered top priorities.

·  We are excited about a new Ingram Hall that would allow for greater physical communication between the various SOAC constituencies. A space that is somehow physically connected to MBR would be desirable. Music studios, jazz studio, shared classroom space for SOAC, and storage.

·  Covered outdoor spaces with seating

·  Outside teaching spaces and informal seating

·  East campus needs major renovation. This building serves as a major connection to the community and to service learning. As currently presented, the interior does not represent PLU well.

·  More outdoor garbage cans

·  Meeting spaces need attention

·  Need more benches throughout the campus

·  Harstad turned into administrative bldg.

·  Ingram

·  Patios from UC 206/210/ Regency that look out to Foss field

·  Patio of coffee shop would be better w/ cover or pull back the brush for more view/sun

·  UC/Dining Access (24 hours)

·  Foss/Pflueger fields-make more accessible and user friendly-BBQ, benches

·  Smoking areas outside utilized for more than just smoking.

·  Lobby/gathering area of Hauge Admin.

·  Lower campus is challenging to sell to students

·  Paint Pfleuger

·  Campus entry (124th)

·  More after hour’s security in Hauge and chase out bike riders and skate-boarders regularly

·  Develop the green space between Harstad and Library

·  Improve road “look” at 124th between South Hall and Tinglestad

·  Central grass area in the Hauge “U” is totally wasted needs to be develop now or with full renovation of the building and also better break rooms in the admin building

·  Wellness Clinic is currently in very cramped quarters in the basement of the old Parkland School building on East Campus. Since it serves the service mission of the University as well as the people who live in the surrounding Parkland community, what plans are there for moving the clinic into a better and more visible location.

·  Fix the forest area in campus- kind of creepy

·  Storage space that is protected, secure and a fire safe space

·  Classroom improvement in Ingram, Eastvold, Hauge, and Harstad (tables and chairs)

·  Outside and inside space

·  More Consistency w/ grounds

·  University Center-to attract more students for hangout; place for commuter students.

·  Alumni Center

Anything else?

- 3 -

·  Improving campus security with lighting, surveillance and security cameras to enhance student safety **

·  Why is there no full time teaching faculty on the master plan committee?

·  Why doesn’t the master plan include the golf course future?

·  More details on what sustainability means-more details on exactly what is being done

·  Slides were too difficult to read.

·  Redesign Eastvold. We are very happy with the large auditorium planned. In addition, we are concerned with maintain a natural acoustical space as well as a pit area to include hydraulic lifts and movable back wall. Chapel at the new tower chapel would also be wonderful.

·  Campus safety is concern

·  Support Office open in evening for faculty photocopies, pens during night class.

·  Desks in the classroom where you can take notes and leave your book open. Arm desks don’t work!

·  Unofficial paths should be paved

·  121st –speed bumps and lit crosswalks

·  ½ hour shuttle around campus

·  Smokers in front of doorways. At other institutions they have provided a comfortable space for smokers so they don’t smoke in doorways.

·  Crossing 124th street is dangerous.

·  Promote U.C. Atrium as a place for students to congregate. Also, bring back the coffee cart for that area.

·  Plans for Garfield and bookstore made available-we want more detail of discussion/plans

·  Will there be spaces in bookstore for things like “author sessions” and community meetings?

·  Needs to have a central building with a central meeting space. The UC is segmented into too many levels

·  We need to create a place where interactions (student/faculty, student/staff, faculty/staff)

·  Make the library to the UC and make the library the new UC.

·  Protect the green spaces

·  Sidewalks need to be a priority

·  Unify lower and upper campus

·  Graduation can’t continue to be in Olsen. May is too hot, seating bad.

·  Redefining the PLU “community”.

·  Focus on surrounding areas- educational and residential areas

·  Lack of school enrollments compared to space, size and classrooms, and make adjustments specifically school of nursing!

·  Huge Grand staircase to connect upper and lower pathways doesn’t feel all that safe.

·  Choir room in Eastvold-terrible

·  UC Pond needs to be updated and used on a daily basis

·  Turn Golf course into arboretum

·  Signage for individual buildings

·  Spell out PLU in flowers

·  Meeting space for trainings, receptions

·  Salad bar/Healthy Eating Options @ Coffee Shop

·  Payroll personnel are not all located together. We are borrowing a small office; we have to walk people thru the kitchen.
