A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of William Edward Quisenberry Sr.

WHEREAS, William E. Quisenberry, was born on June 26, 1920, in Livermore to the late Edward Everett and Maude Igleheart Quisenberry; and

WHEREAS, William Quisenberry, known by his family and friends as "Bill," departed this earthly life on March 3, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Quisenberry graduated from Livermore High School in 1938, and attended Bowling Green Business College from 1939 to 1940. He entered the U.S. Army in October 1941, shortly after this nation entered World War II, and served the duration of the war. He was a 1945 graduate of Officers Training School. Mr. Quisenberry resumed his military service in November 1950 when he was recalled to serve during the Korean War. He was discharged in June 1952; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Quisenberry entered Washington and Lee University in Virginia in 1948 and subsequently entered Washington and Lee Law School, where he graduated in 1950. He was admitted to the Kentucky State Bar in May 1950; and

WHEREAS, William E. Quisenberry opened his law practice in June 1952 in Calhoun, and practiced law for more than 50 years, retiring in 2002; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Quisenberry took on the responsibilities of public service with his election in 1953 to the office of McLean County Attorney. He served as McLean County Attorney for 28 years, from 1954 to 1982; and

WHEREAS, throughout his long and distinguished life, Bill Quisenberry served in many community, civic, and church capacities in Calhoun and in nearby Owensboro; and

WHEREAS, he served on the Citizens Deposit Bank Board for over 20 years, served on the First Kentucky Bank Board for over 30 years, served on the McLean County Hospital Board for almost 20 years, and was a member of the Owensboro Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf; and

WHEREAS, Bill Quisenberry was a member of the Calhoun Lions Club, was a member of the Vienna Lodge Number 423, Free & Accepted Masons, where he received his 50-year pin in 2002, and was a member of the Shrine Rizpah Temple in Madisonville; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Quisenberry was a 40-year member of the Calhoun Baptist Church and more recently was a member of the First Baptist Church in Owensboro, where he was active in Sunday school; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Quisenberry was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Rightmyer Ouisenberry, who died in March 2003; and

WHEREAS, he was survived by three children, William E. Quisenberry Jr., Betty Q. Edwards, and Rebecca H. Stansbury; four stepchildren, Danny Russell, Gary Russell, Jill R. Taylor, and Anthony Russell; six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Kidd;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate expresses its deepest sympathy upon the passing of William E. Quisenberry Sr. and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, many friends, and his community.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of William E. Quisenberry Sr.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Dorsey Ridley for delivery to the family.
