Infants Sports Day 2017 – Monday 10th July
We have re-arranged the Sports Days at the Foundation Phase for Monday 10th July. The Nursery Sports Day will start at 10 a.m. with Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 Sports Day starting at 1.30 p.m. start. We look forward to seeing you and supporting all of the children at this event.
Year 4 50/50 Cricket Tournament 2017
Last Friday, thirty of our Year 4 pupils took part in the 50/50 Tournament, organised by Cricket Wales, at Newbridge Fields, Bridgend. We entered three teams of 10 players, made up of 5 boys and 5 girls. Each team played three matches and one of our teams (the Greens) qualified for the final where they narrowly lost to Cefn Cribwr Primary School in a very close match decided on the final delivery. Well done to all who participated - your sportsmanship and behaviour was excellent as commented upon by those present. A huge thank you to Miss Morgan, Miss Bevan and Mrs Frowen for preparing the pupils for this competition. The squads were as follows:

Mrs Helen Power (Class 7) will leave for her maternity at the end of the Summer Term with Mrs Griffiths, who currently teaches in Nursery, moving across to teach a Year 3 class in Key Stage 2. Mrs Anthony will teach full time in Nursery in September 2017. Parents please note a typing error from last week’s newsletter – Mrs Cooper will be teaching Class 1 and Mrs Fryer will be teaching Class 2 from September 2017. Apologies for this confusion.

Year 2 Summer Concert – “A World of Pure Imagination”
Rehearsals are going well for our Year 2 concert “A World of Pure Imagination”. Performances take place at the Infants Hall on Wednesday 12th July (2.00 p.m.) and Thursday 13th July (5.30 p.m.) Tickets are now on sale priced at £2 each.
Year 5 & 6 Summer Production - “Arabian Nights”
Rehearsals for our Year 5 and 6 summer production, “Arabian Nights”, continue to go well. Performances will take place at Cynffig Comprehensive School Main Hall on Wednesday 12th July and Thursday 13th July starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale priced at £4 each.
Mynydd Cynffig Primary School Year 5 & 6 Prom Night
Our Year 5 & 6 “Prom Night” will be held at Kenfig Hill Rugby Club on Monday 17th July from 6 p.m. until 8.00 p.m. Tickets are now on sale from the School Office, priced at £5.00.
Ethan Dewar & Finley Davies (class 12)
Many congratulations to Year 5 pupils Ethan Dewar and Finley Davies who have been selected to represent Bridgend Schools at football for the 2017-18 season. Well done to you both on this special achievement.
Evie Richards (Class 10)
Many congratulations to Year 4 pupil Evie Richards who finished in 13th position overall and 5th position in her category at the Gemau Cymru Triathlon held at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar last weekend. Evie completed the combined swim, bike and run in a brilliant time of 24 minutes and 28 seconds. Llongyfarchiadau Evie!
Evie has also qualified for the Bridgend Schools Swimming Gala Finals at Ynysawdre Pool on Sunday 16th July at 11.30 a.m. where she will compete in the 25 metre freestyle race for Year 3 & 4 girls.Good luck Evie!
Bridgend Schools Basketball Finals Day 2017 – Tuesday 11th July 2017
As winners of the Bridgend West division, Mynydd Cynffig Primary School has qualified for the Bridgend Schools Finals Day which takes place on Tuesday 11th July from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pencoed College. Pob lwc!
