Post:Director of Strategic Development and Delivery
Salary:£45 - £50k

Hours:37 hours per week
Reporting to:Chief Executive Officer
Job purpose:
ecdp’s mission is to enhance the everyday lives of disabled people – as members, clients, service users or wider communities across Essex and beyond.
Taking a leadership role across the organisation the post-holder will assume responsibility for the development and delivery of activities which are directly focused on achieving that mission.
The post holder will lead the insight team, responsible for policy, research and project/programme functions.
As a member of the senior management team the postholder will contribute to the corporate development of theorganisation.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Leadership
- To lead the development and implementation of strategy to capture, translate, articulate and promote the voice of disabled people so their ‘lived experience’ informs everything ecdp does
- To provide line management support to a team of staff
- To oversee and manage the delivery of a range of externally funded projects/programmes ensuring Key Performance Indicators are met
- To be responsible for all monitoring and evaluation activity for insight funded projects/programmes, producing internal and external reports and requirements in a timely fashion
- To be responsible for the management and monitoring of insight budgets liaising with the Executive Manager, Finance on an ongoing and regular basis
- To contribute to the development and delivery of the fundraising profile for insight working alongside the CEO and Communications Manager to achieve targets
Policy and Research
- To play a leadership role in establishing ecdp policy positions on key local and national issues of importance to disabled people, and overseeing ecdp’s implementation of related activities
- To oversee ecdp’s engagement activity ensuring the work of the organisation is informed by the lived experience of disabled people
- To co-ordinate ecdp research-related activity, working in partnership with stakeholders as appropriate
General Management
- To contribute to the work of ecdp’s corporate strategy and operational plan as an integral part of the senior management team
- To write timely reports and briefings to ecdp’s senior management team and Board of Trustees on performance, and emerging issues
- Working with the Communications Manager to ensure development of good internal and external communications promoting the work of ecdp and insight
- To deputise for the CEO as required, working with other members of the senior management team to ensure the smooth running of the organisation

Person Specification
Essential
- Demonstrable track record in building teams in a small organisational setting
- Experience of building new services/teams
- A track record in successfully writing applications for external funding
- A clear strategic thinker, capable of forward analysis, who is able to construct and communicate a workplan
- Experience of managing small teams and providing individualised support to maximise staff talents
- Experience of policy development and its implementation
- Experience of financial management and oversight of budgets,including variance reporting, and reasoned conclusions
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment balancing a range of priorities to tight deadlines
- Demonstrable evidence of leadership in environments where constant change is the norm
- An excellent understanding of communication and marketing approaches, with exemplary communication and influencing skills with the sensitivity to respond to different audiences
- A track record of taking personal responsibility for delivering results through contract, project and programme management
- Experience of analysing complex information to reach sound judgements and explain the basis of those judgements
- A high standard of computer literacy
- Personal commitment to equality and diversity
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the social model of disability
- Good working knowledge of different public policy areas, including, but not exclusively, social care, health and public employment
- Experience of involvement in fundraising related activity
