CLASS TITLE:ECONOMIC RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work assisting in conducting economic research analyses to identify trends affecting marketing programs of the Department of Citrus; or to identify Florida Labor Market and Employment Trends for the Department of Labor and Employment Security.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Collects data from experimental economic and statistical research studies at the producer, handler, processor, distribution, retailer, and consumer levels.
  • Assists in analyzing and summarizing primary and secondary market economic data.
  • Maintains current economic data on exports-imports, retail consumption, prices, and movement of citrus and citrus products into primary and secondary channels of trade.
  • Assists in preparing research reports and report summaries for publication by the department.
  • Prepares statistical charts, tables, slides and other graphic presentations of data.
  • Contacts representatives of the citrus industry and professional research organizations in gathering facts and figures.
  • Gathers, compiles, analyzes, interprets and disseminates labor market information.
  • Prepares annual budget for grant funding and monitors grant fund expenditures.
  • Responds to requests for labor market information from the public including data interpretations and explanations of methodological procedures.
  • Coordinates with federal agencies to exchange labor market information.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, agricultural economics, statistics or business and two years of professional experience in economics, agricultural economics, statistics or marketing; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, agricultural economics, statistics or business and one year of professional experience as described above; or
  • A doctorate from an accredited college or university in economics, agricultural economics, statistics or business.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year for year basis for the required college education.
