This award is open to and recognises young professionals who make significant contributions in the field of Spatial Science and act as role models for others in the industry.

Criteria for judging Spatial Professional of the Year:

oInnovation and technical expertise.

oLeadership.

oParticipation in professional subcommittees and groups.

oContribution to significant projects.

oOngoing continuing professional education.

This citation must address the above criteria in sufficient detail, as judging is based solely on the submitted citation. The word limits attached to each criteria ensure that the award citations are comparatively consistent which produces a fair judging process. It is recommended that the response to the criteria is close to the suggested word limit for these reasons. The suggested inclusions for citation material for each criteria, are only suggestions and other supporting material is encouraged.

In answering this criteria, focus on the nominee’s contribution to specific innovative projects and any aspects of technical expertise in their profession. For example, has their work been recognised through awards for innovation and technical expertise, and/or have they undertaken postgraduate studies using spatial technologies in an innovative way. Consider whether other professionals seek advice from the nominee for their technical expertise.

Criteria 2: Leadership

Document examples where the nominee may have led a significant project, leadership roles in the workplace and leadership roles amongst the spatial professional.

Consideration should be given to committees that the nominee may have served on and representation roles. Examples could include involvement in the SSI Young Professionals.

Criteria 4: Contribution to significant projects

In addressing this criteria include the actual role the nominee played in the project (for example, did they lead the project, contribute a specific component of technical expertise, liaise with client/stakeholder etc).

Include nominee’s commitment to continuing professional development (CPD events). For example, list ongoing study, participation/attendance at CPD, and organisation/presentation of CPD events .
