2016- A two day intensive cours that covers basic concepts in clinical ethics, foundational moral concepts from Catholic theology, the ethics consultant’s role in a consult and on an ethics committee, skills and tools used to perform ethics consults, role-play sessions to apply the skills and content, and how to document ethics consults in the medical record
Residency interviewing process
2016- Residency interviews for applicants during interview season. Involved taking interviewees out to dinner pre-interview, conducting interviews, and taking interviewees to lunch, as well as critiquing and ranking the applicants.

Health Committee of Islamic Association of North Texas- Secretary
2013-2015: Committee responsible for raising awareness in the Islamic congregation at the local mosque/place of worship. Secretary: responsible for coordination of events, recruiting volunteers, collaborating efforts of other team members
Interfaith Lecture Series- Main Organizer and planner
2013: Organized a lecture series that provided religious informative sessions about medically-related topics. Topics pertained to health care professionals, specifically to issues that patients or healthcare providers encounter and how they should face them, and presenting practical information that will make clinical experiences more comfortable for patients and their providers.
TCOM Ambassador
2012-2015: Representatives of Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, on and off campus. Responsible for interview day tours, presentations off campus, and welcoming visitors on campus for official events

Islamic Association of South Texas Annual Food Festival
2016-participated and volunteered in the food festival’s execution. This is a yearly event for the past 4 years in Corpus Christi where IAST opens its doors to its mosque and grounds and hosts a food festival to bridge gaps and open communication doors between Corpus Christi and its relative minority of Muslims in the community.
MSGA HOME
2012-2015: Sponsored by Medical Student Government Association, volunteered as an upper classman for screening events at homeless shelters in the Fort Worth area. Provided blood pressure screens, glucose checks, eye screenings, health information and education, reviewed medications, and connected patrons with local free clinics
Student Osteopathic Medical Association Hispanic Wellness Fair
2013: Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment volunteer- Under the guidance of licensed DOs, treated patrons with gentle techniques to relieve musculoskeletal pains and ailments, as well as guided first and second year classmen with similar treatments
American Muslim Women Physicians Association Annual Health fair
2013: volunteered at the annual health fair hosted by AMWPA. Responsible for obtaining BMI for patrons, as well as directing them to their next booth for further evaluation

Student American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine Cowtown Marathon:
2011 & 2012: Volunteers sponsored by SAOASM; Annual event where volunteers were stationed along the marathon course and available for assistance in case runners appeared in distress and/or medical emergencies arose

· Soft tissue clinic volunteer: monthly Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment lab that is open to all faculty and students of UNT Health Science center; administered OMT to patrons
· Clinical competency review: upperclassmen were responsible for reviewing OMT techniques and treatments before hands-on competencies with students; reviewed techniques and explanations, as well as demonstrated techniques that were commonly missed
Research
Characterization of Mitochondrial RNA Polymerasein Physarum polycephalum by cloning strategy
Worked in Dr. Dennis Miller’s lab on a series of experiments to further classify the polymerase in order to gain more understanding of its functionality; Focuses of the experiments were the promoter region of P.polycephalum’s mtRNA polymerase and its specificity loop. (A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas)-2011

Anatomy Summer Dissector
2012: UNTHSC Anatomy department hired transitioning first year medical students to dissect cadavers in the lab for other programs that did not do dissections.

Peer Led Team Learning Leader
2010: students who have already finished a subject matter with exceptional grades were asked to work at the tutoring center as peer tutors for students who were currently enrolled in those classes.
