Kill The Dandies now! ...let them live long!
KtD! were started by two main Nihilists (of the former international fame of Moimir Papalescu & The Nihilsts), La Petite Sonja /voc., keyb., synth./ and Hank J. Manchini /voc., guit./ with an old-school-punk-rock guitarist Richard Fischer (also of Take Death). The trio was joined by hammering drummer Vratislav Placheta (Green Monster and also of The Nihilists) and a heavy-duty bass man Martin Růžička of the The Ritchie Success. Within the last three years of its quiet existence, this remarkable Prague’s gang played dozens of gigs at home, in the Czech Republic, then also in Germany or Switzerland.
KtD! – it’s a leathal sonic cocktail of the sixties‘ garage rock with thick layers of hammonds, analog synths and wild guitar bites on top. Their deep sources of inspiration could be framed by The Cramps-esque psychotic rock’n’roll, Lee Hazelwood’s loli-poppy country ballads, The Velvet Underground’s unbrushed rawness and Phil Spector’s noisy wall of sound. Maybe therefore the Kill The Dandies! are so sweet and dangerous at the same time.
In the Fall of 2008 the double A-sided single „I Want It“ / „Come To My Home“ was released, accompanied by a redux of „I Want It“ in cover by Steve Morell, the head of Berlin‘s Pale Music Int. label...
...and now it is finally the awaited long length „I Saw White Fields“ – on the band’s own label Drug Me Records, abroad (worldwide) on Berlin‘s BLASS Music / FREIBANK, distributed by Pale Music Int.
Producing the album were the „Dandies“ themselves together with the legendary „flying“ Dutch Bert Neven, amongst many others known for working with the KILLING JOKE. Guesting highlights on the record marked Berlin’s Warren Suicide’s singer Chérie, and, of course, the one and only Steve Morell (Pale Music Int., Blass Music/Freibank).
The „I Saw White Fields“ album release party with live performances by Kill The Dandies! (didn’t you guess that?) together with the Austrian sixties‘ garage punks, The Roadrunners, and DJ sets from Steve Morrell (you didn’t guess this one, did you?) and unexpectidly from Tábor City Truckers.
When and where?
On Friday, September 25, 2009 from 8pm at the PILOT CLUB, Donska str., Praha 10 – Vrsovice, Prague, Czech Republic.
