4. Discussion Items
a) Director’s Update
· Program designed by the USIMAC. They will provide info in Braille and large print. Fee is based on student enrollment. $300-400 per year. Conference with Hollie Murdock.
· Gun Regulations in Utah. Cannot create a policy banning guns. If a person has a concealed weapons permit they aren’t required to disclose this information to anyone, including administration. In fact if they do it is actually violating the terms of having a concealed weapons permit. If carrying gun, it must be on you.
· Post on the doors that they support current gun laws so there could possibly be guns on campus.
· Emergency Response Plan. It must be complete, certified, and submitted to the Charter School Director’s office by July 1st. This plan must be sent out yearly. Backpacks with information inside classes like DSD. Emergency Location??? Talk to Pres. Hollist about using Stake Center across the street.
· Snow days? How are we going to handle this? Teacher work days, we could use one of those if needed? Follow Davis County School District but the option to cancel if needed.
· Feb. 11th Charter School Day on the Hill
· Computer Adaptive Assessment System is designed for Utah to measure common core standards.
- Summative Adaptive Assessment – Will replace CRT’s (grades 3-12 administered in the Spring)
- Interim – Optional online assessment given in the Fall and midyear and used to evaluate students learning of common core (more accurate picture of students growth)
- Formative Assessment – designed to replace and expand UTIPS
· Assessment Director’s meeting on Jan. 31st. Still receiving more info on that.
· Saturday March 9th from 9-2pm is a charter school job fair at Summit Academy High. You can request reimbursement. $200. Put on by UAPCS and teachers-teachers.
