5th Grade - Spelling Homework Menu 1st Trimester

The following menu includes a variety of ways to practice your spelling words each week. Each student is required to choose different activities each week to complete for homework until at least 12 have been completed. Please write the title of each chosen activity on the paper where the activities are completed and return the completed work the following day.

5th Grade Menu / ABC Order
Write all of your spelling words in ABC order. / Word Art
Create a collage by using word letters, or pictures to represent each of your spelling words, cut out from newspapers or magazines. / Letter Generator

rg/files/resources/interacti ves/letter_generator/ and type a FRIENDLY LETTER using all of your words this week. Print it out and turn it in. You can also write a friendly letter on a postcard and/or paper as well. / Criss-Cross Words
Write your words on graph paper and have them intersect using a common letter.

Write a synonym and antonym for each of your spelling words (examples: If the spelling word is “difficult,” I could write “hard” for a synonym and “easy” for an antonym).
Word Sort
Look at your words and put them in groups. Write down the groups and explain how you sorted them. (examples: sort by # of syllables or letters, part of speech, beginning or ending letter, etc) / Technology
