Job Title: Night Key worker (2 posts)

Salary: £7.00 per hour

Contract length:This will initially be a one year contract – (further extension is subject to funding)

Hours: Part-time - 24 hours per week

Reports to: Housing Project Manager

Location: Harrow, London

Introduction

Afghan Association Paiwand (Paiwand) is a registered charity and limited company founded in 2002. Paiwand aims to benefit the Afghan and other Refugee and Migrant communities in the United Kingdom through reducing poverty, advancing education, and relieving suffering through a number of services including advocacy, mental health support, supplementary education, social support, accommodation for unaccompanied minors, youth and mentoring services and others. It currently assists 2000 beneficiaries each year throughout North and North West London.

Aims of the post

The purpose of the role is to provide high quality support services between 7 and 12pm to young people and unaccompanied minors aged between 16-21 years old, to assist them in resolving their problems and developing life skills through the provision of life skills support and safety planning, support information, signposting and advocacy.

To carry a workload, commensurate with qualification, experience and competency; to manage supported accommodations in London.

To work within the local legislative and Paiwand Policy and procedural framework.

To oversee the implementation of house rules, maintain good and positive social behaviour and attitude by young people residing at the Paiwand’s accommodation towards each other and neighbours.

To monitor the acceptable level of noise during the house stated above; and to be able to coach and support young people.

Main duties and responsibilities

The night key worker will have responsibility for the implementation of the accommodation management and administration of the project during the house stated above, in accordance with the policies of the organisation and other statutory requirements.

  • To contribute to the overall planning and development of the service delivery.
  • To ensure Health and Safety policies/legislation is adhered to.
  • Attending any such meetings as may be necessary in the support and development of the project service delivery
  • Support the Housing Project Manager in the delivery of support plans.
  • To work in a team with the Housing Project Manager, with the local authority social services and other agencies to provide an effective service to young people.
  • Assist in ensuring that young people develop life skills and knowledge of British society and culture through a formal preparation for independence programme.
  • Encouraging refugees to support their integration through education and training.
  • To provide daily report on young people’s health and safety, and implementation of the house rules during hours as stated above.
  • To document and duly report the need for any maintenance to the Housing Project Manager.
  • To undertake basic maintenance and repair of the accommodation agreed with the Housing Project Manager.
  • To support the Housing Project Manager in ensuring that equal opportunities is maintained in all aspects of service delivery and to involve service users in planning and implementation as far as possible.
  • To contribute towards strategic development, quality assurance and compliance control for the services.
  • To ensure that a high level of confidentiality is maintained in all aspects of work.
  • Ensuring that service delivery is in accordance with the Children Act 200 (Section 20) and the Children’s Act 2004 and all government and statutory regulations and guidance.
